i just love that perk is a celtic. man,would'nt tim duncan LOOOOVE to have perk playing beside him?! heck, who would'nt? just LOVE perk. the dude even took a nice discount on his contract. i'm jut marvelling at the change in his body. i mean you can almost call him skinny. amazing.

i think that, along with him getting in better shape, are the BIG changes in kendrick perkins this year. you can't play good when your sitting out with 5 fouls, you can dominate when you play smart, aggressive basketball.

Championships are won because of players like Perkins knowing their roles and exceeding at them.  In Perkins' case, he's not only exceeding in his role, he's learning and growing so that in a few years I predict his role should evolve to a #2 or #3 option each time down the floor.  Simply a great draft pick by Danny and his scouts!

i totally agree, i see that in decline of the big 3 perk will be one of the main guys to pickup that slack, and then take over in their absence.

Well, I must say Perkins is a beast so comparing him to the Beast from X-Men is a great choice. However the Hulk is green so you can't go wrong with it either. To sum it up, Perkins is awesome! TP's for you both.

i am a long time perk supporter....but really guys. he does have some significant limits. remove garnet from the staters and perk's numbers would suffer greatly.

i once predicted that he MIGHT be able to average about ten points an ten rebounds for a few years. that seems about right.

if he ever becomes the 2nd scoring option on the celtics, that means the big three have become the big retired. i would also mean the celtics would be making plans for the lottery.

i think your selling him short a little bit, Perk is a 24 year old 6 year veteran. Every year he's made strides towards getting better. This year he took a giant leap and is arguably twice as good as last year, he's taking less stupid fouls, becoming a defensive animal,  and the rest of the team are looking for him to get his touches. If you took KG away from Perk he would obviously not be a good, but KG has said himself and its been proven that KG suffers without Perk.

it is a good bet that perk will be able take over the role of defensive heart of this team as KG diminishes. it is far less likely that he could fill kg's role on offense.

survival in the post kg era will require that the c's find and develop a young big who's game compliments perks. that is why i'm not surprised by the paddy o experiment and why i expect they will try out a few more undervalued free agent bigs (c,frye?) in the next few years.

Perk is my favorite Celtic, but I think 10 and 10 is likely his ceiling.  It is true that there is still growth potential -- he works hard and he'll get smarter with experience and perhaps more skilled in the post.  But, I've been trying to come up with a highly effective offensive big man who didn't show evidence of offensive prowess by age 24 (Perk is not showing high level offensive skill to date).  Perk is improved but clearly limited in his offensive game.  He will get better, but likely 2-3 points better -- not 10 points better (as in replacing KG's numbers). 

I'm often wrong, so I may be wrong here, but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts about other 24 year olds who transformed from where Perk is now to offensive juggernauts by age 30.

Perk has been a very pleasant surprise this year, mostly with the dedication he used in getting himself in shape. He looks lean, is no longer struggling to get up and down the court in the 4th quarter and is really moving his feet on defense.

A few years ago, I really rode Perk hard here on his shape, saying that his plantar fasciatas was exasperated by his poundage. (under my old screen name, Connerhenry).

Perk has stepped it up and deserves full credit for taking his game up a notch.

Now if only Big Baby could have the same determination and dedication to conditioning that Perk has
