First Colvin and now Seau

If only they had gotten Ty Law as well.

From Boston.com

The agent for linebacker Junior Seau said that the 18-year NFL veteran is visiting the Patriots today, and revealed that Seau landed in the Boston area at 3:45 p.m. Eastern Time.

Marvin Demoff, Seau's agent, said that if Seau is healthy it shouldn't be difficult for the sides to reach a deal that would put Seau back in a Patriots uniform.

"I don't think the contract will be an issue," said Demoff. "If Junior is there and nothing is different from what they thought last night, I would suspect they'd do a contract, and he'd be a Patriot tomorrow. I don't think any promises were made to Junior or by Junior to them before he got on the plane."

Fine move with me... Bruschi's knee is obviously an issue, and bringing in a leader like Seau is never a bad thing with a pair of young and promising ILBs like Mayo and Guyton that will learn so much from a guaranteed HOFer
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

Hmm...  how much can a 40 year old linebacker help?  It's good to have the leadership, but can he actually play?

He helped a fair amount when he was 39. It won't be too different... he's still in shape apparently, and he's played long enough that it will come back relatively quickly. With no Rodney and a hurt Bruschi/Thomas combo, experience isn't a bad thing in the LB corps with all the youth we are working with and getting production out of.

Whoa. Did not see this coming. I like it, though.

Will Doug "Drop Kick" Flutie be next?

Maybe the Patriots ought to find a few defensive backs who can actually cover someone. They ought to raid the NBA developmental league to fund some guys over 5-9.

Agreed.  I welcome him back.

Probably more then a FA off the street.  He at least already knows the system.  they have a ton of injuries to the linebackers right now, so its fine by me (I dont think he will tear it up, but I am not convinced he will be any worse the bruschi, who has looked horrible lately).

Whenever Seau's name comes up, I can't help but picturing him and Bruschi embracing and telling each other "one more stop" before the final drive of last year's Superbowl. What a perfect ending that would've been to his career. I still can't fathom that we lost that game.
