Anybody else unimpressed by Bynum? He's good but they make him sound like a combination of Shaq, Wilt and Kareem. Oden has looked much better to me.

In this league there are and always have been to long standing concepts, Laker Bias and Celtic Reality. Laker Bias is running rampant right now but come Christmas night, Celtic Reality will once again rule supreme.

Just in case they need one, the Bynum excuse is lining up nicely for Laker fans future disappointment.

http://www.sbsun.com/sports/ci_11099772

That's going to cause him some time missed eventually.

(though it didn't seem to bug him much last night - 18 pts 10 reb)
Bynum is going soon, it's reported that he's had a problem with his rotator ( I think I forgot how to spell that oh well call me a vujacic...) cuff in practice, and his ankles are going now as well. I am 18 and I took a nasty shoulder injury last year, and it will NEVER be the same again bynum is not healed from that for sure. Another month or two he'll be gone. Also Bill Walton last night said himself that the Lakers are clearly overrated, I started laughing at that one.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
we have played bad twice this season every other game our defense has look unbelievable

Your opinion...good for you.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
didn't the celtics get blown out by some bottom feeder earlier this year

They were taken to 7 last year in the playoffs by ATLANTA...the WORST team in the PLAYOFFS. Then, preceded to hand us our lunch in 6.

What's your point? Mine is we lost to the Celts 6 times last year...2 with Bynum, 4 with Pau. Neaither Pau nor Bynum were much opposition to KG or Perkins. Pau is a finished product...he is what he is. Bynum is far from ready to play physical enough to make that much of a difference.

Do the math. This game is not a slam dunk for us.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
you are being pessemistic

Again, opinion.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
bynum has looked phenomenal lately blocking shots, scoring, rebounding, passing

Gasol looks like gasol but with renewed defensive intensity playing against finesse PF's

Bynum looked great last year....except against the Celts and KG/Perkins. Anything changed?
Pau was not a factor against the BRUISERS...KG and Perkins are FAR from finesse.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
kobe has shot lights out the past 2 games i dont worry about kobe ever except for health

fisher has looked rusty and old but he'll come around

vlad still looks stupid sometimes but hes been shooting sniper rifle lately

All these things will be magnified against the Celts D.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
lamar has been absolutely terrific in his new role hes a shoe in for 13ppg 10rpg 4apg off the bench but has been shooting selectively but timely and making a great percentage

lamar was made for the bench he picks his spots now he was never known for on court awareness well now he can watch the game see where he can be effective and exeecute lamar has never played better in a laker uniform hes looked fluid, smart, effective

I'm reserving judgement on LO until after 20 games. At that point, I will either concede your point or give my detailed (and probably unpopular) dissension.

QUOTE (last stand 2.0 @ Nov 25 2008, 01:47 AM)
farmar, sasha need to pick it up and they will we have enough people to keep us winning while they get in the flow of things

ariza andrei kirilenko part 2 the guy has been filling up the stat sheet

i love it right now but we need to take it one game at a time and stay healthy

The bench's offense is what made them so potent. As long as they put up numbers and push the tempo, I'm not worried about them. I definitely not worried about Sasha. I'd actually like to see him keep shooting. If he's not shooting, he shouldn't be out there. I'd like to see Farmar put more effort in on the defensive end...not holding my breath though. No complaints about Ariza. Coming along nicely.

Who knows what this team will look like by Christmas? All the kinks MAY be ironed out. But as of today, we wouldn't win the game.

I said that last year before the playoffs.
I'm saying it right now.

Take it for what it's worth. On paper, we are a dominant team. In reality, we are winning based on our depth and talent, not great TEAM execution. BOSTON is executing well (not great) as a team on both ends of the floor. Just the way it is at this point in time.

Don't shoot the messenger.

^^^^^^^^ Copy and paste from LakerNation, it seems that this 1 Laker fan has a brain, and can see impending doom in the future for his team. btw everyone else mostly skipped over his post on that site it was actually quite comical, silly laker fans and their....disbelief in real things :)

I am going to respectfully disagree.  I hated the Lakers with a passion in the 1980s, but then after experiencing the ugly basketball of the Pistons, Knicks and the poor basketball of the 1990s, I had a change of heart/reinterpretation of the Lakers 1980s teams.  I had viewed them as all Hollywood, soft, pampered, favorites, etc.  But looking back, I realized those Magic Johnson led teams were great teams, and beating them were among the Celtics greatest accomplishments in the 1980s.  Being a Celtics fan would not have nearly been as fun without the Lakers.  The two greatest teams I have ever seen until last year were the 1986 Celtics and the 1987 Lakers.  And while I believe the 1986 Celtics would have beaten the 1987 Lakers, it would have been a hell of a series.

Yes, Lakers fans are everything that people have described in the above posts, and that was the case in the 1980s too--but the 1980s Lakers players and teams were not soft.  Yes, I thought the Lakers were soft after 1984, when James Worthy and Magic Johnson seemed to choke and make bad decisions in the clutch (and Kareem had his migraines and needed oxygen).  But Worthy and Magic were just very young and proved to be the epitome of clutch in later playoff series.  To me, the 1980s Celtics and Lakers are two teams that played the game the way it is supposed to be played.  They played team ball, passed the ball, and played defense (well maybe not until 1986-87 for LA re: defense).

Until I went back a couple of years ago and watched some of those 1984 playoff games I forgot that McHale played poorly (for him) in a number of those games in 1984--he was such a clutch playoff player after 1984 that I simply forgot about that.  But he was young/inexperienced in 1984.  (This may prove to be why Gassol and Sasha played poorly in the Finals--only future playoffs will tell.)

Don't get me wrong--I love beating LA.  I could not have scripted last year better (especially all the media picking the Lakers).  I am thankful for LA as a foil for Boston.

Now, I do still HATE the Pistons.  Isiah Thomas and Bill Laimber were very effective basketball players, but I hated them and still do.  That team was a bunch of thugs (other than Dumars).  In September 1986 I left MA to go to school in Ann Arbor MI, was surrounded by Pistons fans, went to see Celtics-Pistons games in the Silverdome with 80,000 Pistons fans, and will hate the Pistons forever.  (I actually respected the Billups, Prince, Hamilton, Wallace, etc. teams, and always liked Dumars, but I still hate the franchise.) I am thrilled to see Dumars trade Billups as I don't think the Pistons will be a threat this year and I won't miss them as a foil.

I've decided that I no longer need a reason. I hate everything about them and cringe when their name is mentioned. I also despise Kobe Bryant - he's a despicable person and the MJ comparisons make me want to murder those who suggest he even breathes the same air as Jordan.

Looking at the box score for the Lakers/Pacers games:  Free throw attempts 37-12 in favor of the Lakers.

Phil Jackson is already working on his Christmas post game excuses:

Jackson was already wondering aloud about the Lakers' chances to adequately study the Celtics.

"We get back at 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock in the morning, and to have practice on the 24th is almost unfair after four games in five days," he said. "Preparing for the game is even difficult for us. Obviously, we have something to draw from last June, but that's . . . six months out."

Laker Trolls...man I'd forgotten about them.  Annoying little buggers.

Hats off to LA for a good win tonight against a team on a 19 game streak.

Now bugger off!
Yup

Is having a roster full of guys you'd like to punch in the face a good reason to hate them?

That's actually not a reason to hate them so much as it is a by product of already hating them so much. But if not, then yeah, that's a great reason to hate them. Hate away.
