4.) Laker media love - this is not something that is new and exclusive to this decade or Kobe. Believe me little ones it started with Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain and only continues on until this day. I mean why should the NBA logo feature a Laker when the greatest winner and pure example of winning basketball back when they designed the logo would have been Bill Russell? Makes no sense to me other than Laker media love. Whenever the Celtics and Lakers meet, it is almost always the Lakers that got the hype and this goes back to the CBS days of the 80's when they literally wet themselves trying to talk about how great the Laker fast break was during the middle of a Pistons-Knicks game.

Details please!  I'm just picturing Brent Musberger getting a little too worked up and trying to comment while awkwardly sponging off his leg for the next 10 minutes. Great list Nick, TP!

Oh, and since my kindergarten teacher always told me to say 3 nice things for every 1 mean thing I said about someone, here's 3 things I like about the Lakers:

1. Whenever they get ridiculously overhyped, they fall flat on their faces.  In 04 everyone was saying "Is this one of the greatest teams ever?" before they'd even played a game against the Pistons.  Oops!  Same deal last year against us with the ridiculous Kobe/Jordan comparisons.  I'm sure it happened plenty back in the 60s as well when we played them, and we're definitely seeing the beginnings of it this year.  The media pumps the Lakers up every year, and some physical, smarter ECF team (usually us) inevitably deflates them.  Wouldn't have it any other way.

2. 8-2.  Everybody should know what this one means.  While the C's and Lakers have historical records that are overall fairly close, when they actually play head-to-head, it's not even a contest.

30.) Chick Hearn - the national media practically made this guy out to be some sort of radio play-by-play god in his days while being a bit condescending about how much of a homer Johnny Most was. But we know differently don't we? I've heard a lot of famous radio play by play used in various places and we all know who's voice they always went to, don't we. Yup, Johnny Most, god rest his blessed soul, not Chick Hearn.

31.) 1985 - Yeah that June and summer kinda sucked and it was all the Lakers fault. I mean didn't they know that even when they had a superior team that they were supposed to roll over and lose to us like all the other Lakers team did.

You know, sometimes I don't think younger fans know just how deep Laker hate goes in some of us. I mea, a surgeon would probably find it easier to remove a tumor in the very center of my brain than a psychotherapist would  being able to remove my Laker hate.

32.) Rick Fox and Brian Shaw- sorry, ex-Celtics aren't supposed to go play for the Lakers unless of course they suck. That they won championships there while being good borders on sacrilege and Celtic blasphemy.

TP for that.  I DESPISE those two.  Seeing Shaw now as a Lakers assistant is sickening.  And Rick Fox does Laker insight now at halftimes of their games with Norm Nixon.

One other thing you can add, for #34, is Karl Malone and Gary Payton latching onto them and trying to win a championship.  If I recall correctly San Antonio had offered Malone something similar and he still went to LA to play with Kobe and Shaq.  That made me sick.

They should be called something else besides the lakers. I mean the hollywood persona has taken a fantastic down to earth word like "laker" and made glittery and shiny and flamboyant. If they had been called the "Coal-Miners" it would still be glittery. or the "Longshoremen"...I mean come on. I want them to have a showy name and give the word "Laker" back the dignity it deserves. They should be "Seamen"...you know..cuz of the ocean. Maybe the "Sea-boys"

I'm surprised I haven't seen the infamous Magic sky hook shot from 87.   If there ever was a signature moment of the Lakers beating the Celtics that was it and I hated that moment.

I have 2 priorities in sports:  #1 is the Celtics win.  #2 is the Lakers lose.  If I can't have #1 then my heart and soul go into #2. 

#35 on the reason to hate list: Watching the Lakers win 5 unanswered championships (87-88, Shaq-Kobe).  This was a nightmare.  I will not be happy until the C's take those five back -- last year was number one.

A related but non-Laker hatred, otherwise nice guy Chris Wallace goes forever onto the most despised list with his unfathomable trade of Pau Gasol.  In one fell swoop, Wallace makes the Lakers the team to beat in the West.

#36: Andrew Bynum. Not simply because he is a Laker, but because the Lakers nab another 17 year old who is now looking like he has the potential to be a top big. Landing Kobe after so many teams passed on him and seeing him become what he has become is painful enough.  Now Bynum emerges as a 7-footer with skills from the #10 spot in the draft while oodles of other highly drafted young bigs have faltered.  Can't happen....just can't happen. Lakers need a 22 year hiatus from contention.
