Is there a way that the Yankees, the Colts and the Lakers could all be moved to the same city?  And send the Miami Heat there too.  And Clay Aiken.

I heard Wasilla, Alaska could use some
teams. Although the Heat would have to
change their name to "The Cold".
But that would be alright, wouldn't it?  ;)

that thread

"United we win" it says at the top of the page next to Pau's eyes and a picture of the Larry O'Brien trophy. Seriously? Those guys are pathetic.

(However, someone has Megan Fox as their sig, credit for that she's always pleasing on the eye.)

I think that this is going to be something that a lot of sports fans around the world will actually watch over anything else. There are teams that stand out as the best in each decade, and with these two teams it's like having two titanic teams that it's almost wrong to have them playing in the same era. Look for this game to go down as one of the most physical and brutally fought knock down drag out games in awhile.

I don't know who will be left standing at the end of the day. I think at the end of the game it may come down to the fact that the Lakers have Kobe and the Celtics don't. One thing is for sure, I'm not missing this one.

This is the number one reason I hate Lakers fans. Number one in this case being not some obscure number but the biggest factor in my despising the lakers more than any other team in the National Basketball Association.

You don't know who will probably be left standing? You have no idea, huh? Allow me to bring up the freaking NBA Finals of 2008. There were SIX games! SIX with variation on home court advantage, variation of time, announcers, and even referees! HOWEVER, in every single one of those games one of the freaking constants was that the Lakers had Kobe and the Celtics did NOT have Kobe. Miraculously, against every apparent law of nature and logic, the Lakers did not win every single one of those games! In fact, they only won TWO out of the six, and the lowly Kobe-less Celtics managed to take FOUR!

Man I cannot stand that point of view. Could the Lakers Celtics game on christmas be decided by a healthy Andrew Bynum being the missing piece to the series? Maybe. Could each teams' state of mind be a factor? Sure! Could Phil Jackson introduce an amazing innovation of coaching that will change the direction the world spins on its axis? Why not?

But saying the game will come down to the fact that the Lakers have Kobe Bean Bryant and the Celtics, by contrast, do not have Kobe Bean Bryant is utterly stupid. A lot of Lakers fans think this way and it drives me nuts. Kobe isn't a god, he's just a very good very competitive basketball player. A lot like Finals MVP Paul Pierce.

Going back to the national media's love affair with the Lakers:

J (NY): Is anyone going to stop the Lakers?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:24 PM ET ) I don't think so. Short of an injury ... they are too good.

i'm so sick of hearing how kobe wants to win one without shaq. shaq never one without kobe. jordan did not win without pippen, bird w/o mchale etc. it's just stupid.
pat riley saying the c's cheated in 1984 and had cameras looking into their huddles. i believe he said that was "what the celtics were about."
jerry west. i hate that jerry west was handing out the western conference trophy. i really believe he had somethin sneaky to do w/the gasol deal. 2008 champs. eat it jerry. eat it . eat it. eat it.
  robert horry. i hate him.

ahh . what has'nt been said? i'll say this. where in hell was the interview of will smith(i think he sucks as an actor) after the c's were coming back in game 4. they were loving him earlier. ha. what team is HIS team again?? it's hard to keep track.

In 2003 after the Spurs eliminate the Lakers, they have a long interview with Jack Nicholson. Who cares! What exactly did he do to contribute to the Lakers? Who cares what he thinks?

LOL. A little down the list of responses has someone asking if it's true that the game is sold out?!?!?!?!

The fact that that question even needs to be asked tells me all I need to know about Laker fans and their devotion to their team. The Celtics-Lakers game in Boston was probably sold out within 30 seconds of tickets going on sale.

The question in Boston wouldn't be "is it true the game is sold out" it would be"is it true their scalping tickets now for the game at $1000 a piece". Los Angeles sports fans suck. Show up late, leave early, no long consecutive sellout streaks even though they have had a dynasty, well kinda for the better part of the last 9 years.

Another reason I hate the Lakers, fans that have no idea what a good thing is and how to appreciate it.

The other part of that thread that made me laugh was that same guy asking if it was sold out... He also says "I was just checking... Great to see it'll be on ABC!"

Thank God! Yeah that one gave the bosses at ABC real headaches...

"Well guys what do we want to run? We have It's a Wonderful Life for the 30th time, Yukon Cornelius and Friends Christmas Special, or... oh yeah, Celtics-Lakers."

Another Christmas miracle
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

The Laker Flags on the cars.

Does anyone live in LA and can tell me if these are out yet?  Usually they come out around the second round of the playoffs (when Laker fans really start to get involved) but since it's already a foregone conclusion the Lakers will win the title  ::) I thought maybe they'd be out earlier.

The fact that they're now counting the Minneapolis championships in their totals.  When they played in the Forum you only saw the six banners from their LA days.  Sometime during or right after their three-peat years (which I refuse to acknowledge as a dynasty) they started including these and saying they were catching up to the Celtics' total.

Ah for the hell of it I am watching the Nets/Laker game, and as usual the opposing team has gotten to the line about 4 times compared to the Lakers 14/15?. Luckily my den is next to a bathroom, so when I need to vomit (and it's soon) from these atrocious calls I am safe. Oh and this "Laker Defense" from what I see is pack the middle and hope you don't get the defensive 3 second. No joke at least 3 yellow jerseys were in the paint and not one ref noticed this.

Prepare yourself.  If the Lakers win and Kobe has the kind of game he's had through 2.5 quarters the media will shower them with accolades of how they're so deep that they can still win even when Kobe has a bad game, never once mentioning they struggled to beat THE NETS at home.
