Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics has been suspended one game without pay for striking Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut in the face. In addition, Bogut’s Foul that was committed on Garnett has been upgraded to a Flagrant Foul Penalty One and he has been fined, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations.

The incident occurred with 3:58 remaining in the fourth period of the Celtics 102-97 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, November 15, at the Bradley Center.

Garnett will serve his suspension tomorrow when the Celtics host the New York Knicks at TD Banknorth Garden.

Are you kidding me? I don't think that little incident deserved a technical to either KG or Bogut... but a suspension?

Give me a break.

Total joke
This is embarrassing...
obviously the league is trying to send him a message that they're sick of his antics on the floor (that they were  seemingly perfectly fine with when he was a lovable loser)

I thought Bogut did more in terms of rough-housing, so this is all a complete joke.

Oh well, at least we get to feast on the Knicks tomorrow with Big Baby and Powe showing them up. I'd like to see one of those guys take over KG's pregame ritual and then swallow up a dead ball after a whistle like KG always does. It's good for the morale of the team.

I'm cool with it.  Hopefully it will serve as a lesson that he doesn't do something equally as stupid in a game that actually counts later this spring.

Its gonna be a 20 & 10 night for Leon tomorrow.

We can still win without KG,they've done it before, in a strecth of games when KG was injured...we used Scal more, and dont laugh he did a great job in some games. They can replace KG by committee. This might turn into   a run-gun(the Knicks)affair (game) anyhow, maybe its a good time to give the young guys some burn,Doc.

A little over reacting by the NBA just like KG over reacted. As often as he slapped and pushed off guys under the basket like that it is amazing that he didn't get it sooner. Not really that big of a deal. I'd rather KG keep his intensity even if it means that once in a great while he gets a night off.

Any coincidence that he will be out for the game against David Stern's beloved Knicks? The NBA front office is a complete joke and hopefully Garnett appeals this suspension and wins. I am sick and tired of all of these unnecessary suspensions and fines today in both the NBA and NFL. It needs to stop, these are grown men, not children.

This is absolutely absurd. We were discussing it in the forums

The refs went to video as it happened in the game

Bogut elbowed him in the head, KG flung his hand out and did slap him.

If the refs went to the video in the game and found no reason to eject KG how could the league offices suspend him?

The NBA is undermining the refs authority and has just made the whole replay system look ridiculous.

Why have replay if the league can undermine the refs decisions later.

its ridiculous

Complete BS but you come to expect it from this joke of an association.

As I said on the front page, it's ridiculous that KG gets suspended for this, but Shaq gets off with no suspension for his take down of Stuckey.

It is BS. Another thing how is it that Bogut is not getting suspended then as well?

Wow. But KG is getting suspended but Shaq is not? NBA has ALOT to answer for right now.
