Big game for the Pats tonight.

For anybody who is out of market, apparently you can watch this for free on NFL.com.

This game, as most from this point forward rests squarely on the shoulders of the defense. The offense has pretty much proven they can move between the 20's but not punch it in. So they will most likely average about 20 points per game the rest of the season. It's going to be up to the defense to keep the opposition under that number. If they do, Pats win. If not they lose. And I'm convinced that will be that way until they play their last game this year.

24-13 at half. I guess if I'm right there's no reason to watch the second half. It's a loss.

[dang], that late 1st half touchdown probably cost me a couple of hours of sleep!  Now I have to watch the 2nd half.

GO PATS!
Yup

I love how the commentators had to act like the defense let Farve down. He had so many chances to ice the game and continued to blow it. So overated. Im p---ed that we lost but I guess I can't  bash our skeleton crew defense too much.

Man, great game. It's rare I watch football. Captivating last half hour.

I couldn't make up my mind who I wanted to lose more.

At the same time, Favre's offense put up 27 points in this game (plus a special teams score courtesy of Leon Washington).  Sure, he might have missed a couple of opportunities, but the guy was fairly accurate, didn't turn the ball over (their only one for the game was the Cotchery fumble), ran an offense that supported a 100-yard rusher and held the ball for nearly 40 minutes of this game.  It was the 'D' that gave up 31 points and 511 net yards in just 28:32 of play.  Seems reasonable to be hanging most of the blame for Gang Green's troubles in this game on them.

I kind of hate OT games. I had the feeling we should go for 2 there and try to just win it rather then drag it out. But that was a really good game, IMHO. Its kinda nice when Matt Cassell is your QB because at this point I feel that the Pats are expected to lose.. So any win is just gravvy. And Cassel is actually playing well.

The pats couldnt get off the field all night on third down.  super annoying.

And it wasnt even like favre was making crazy plays, or the coverage was right there and it was great catches by the offense.  instead, there were guys wide open running down the seam.  You have to wonder if it would have been better not to blitz so many guys on the third and longs and instead drop into coverage.  oh well.  good game, tough game.

It's been said over and over again, but the NFL needs to adopt the college OT system.  Both offenses need a chance to put points on the board.

That being said, defense is a part of the game too, and we had a chance to get a quick 3 and out to start the OT period.  They didn't get it done and couldn't stop the Jets the rest of the way down the field.  Too many mistakes tonight, they had a good chance to win but couldn't pull it off.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Couldn't agree more, ma11l.  I just don't get it - the NFL puts out such a fantastic product nearly all of the time, but this is the one place they - can't? don't? won't? - seem to get figured out.  The college overtime system is fantastic, and it makes for great viewing.  I'd love to see this change in the NFL during my lifetime...

...(along with NCAA adopting a playoff system in return)...
