...because he's one of our expensive big 3...and he appears to be the one who just can't carry a team on his shoulders any longer.

let's not keep referring to last year.  last year is over.

Yes, let's refer to this year with a grand total of 3 games in the books.  ::)

"he [Ray] appears to be the one who just can't carry a team on his shoulders any longer.'

Again, check the box score. His effort was by no means the worst. Again, I give you House. Perk and BBD didnt seem to have much impact either. a stinker down the line.

ray was the least of our problems, why doesn't pierce earn your scorn for his crappy shooting and poor FT's tonight?

Everyone except KG was off tonight, and the pacers were highly motivated. It happens, not concerned in the least about this game.

Defense in the first half was non-existant. i know they only scored 39, but thats because everyone not named granger was bricking wide open looks.

I actually think this was a good thing (as far as losses go) they weren't ready for the way the pacers came out and played. On the road, the target on your back is a lot bigger, and the home crowd can carry a team. This is something thats going to be going on on the road all year, good for them to run into the

"where the heck did THIS level of effort come from???" game early.

While I'm not overly concerned, I still have these questions: Why is Bonzi Wells a free agent still? And would you want him on the C's?

The Celtics had an awful game, nothing worked. It's just one of those days, and I prefer it to be soon later in the year. It will be a wake up call and I am pretty sure that they will win next game and nobody will remember about this ugly loss.

By the way, let's not forget that this is the 3rd game of the year, it is quite normal that they still haven't found the best rhythm, don't you think?

If the C's had connected the FT's (as usual), Pierce and Allen had looked a little better(as usual), House had scored some of the multiple 3pointers (as usual) and if we had played better defense and had less turnovers (the usual thing) we would have won this game.

Don't panic, it's just one of those ugly days!! Still 79 games to make it much better

I didn't realize Bonzi was still out there.  Who would we drop to sign him?  I say just give Scal his $6Mil and send him home. Signing Scal was one of the worst move Danny has made (not re-signing Posey being THE WORST) that is preventing the C's from having room for a good player! >:(

i bring up ray because someone is going to have play with the second unit and carry them offensively...it appears that ray has been possibly designated as this guy.

so if he plays like his feet are in cement and can't create space to get off his shot, that unit will be in danger.

afterall, you want eddie house jacking up shots all night?  you want tony allen playing out of control all night too?

sorry, but i'm seeing a trend already that has me concerned...we don't look as good as what we did last year.  i realize it's only 3 games, but i don't want to see this team turn into the '87 celtics - one year removed from a title and looking like they've aged and have a depleted/useless bench.

Look I don't want to repeat what everybody else is saying but don't hit the panic button quite yet.

It was like when Ray struggled early in the playoffs, but then was practically MVP of the finals. As Ray gets a little older, he might have more of these cold stretches but overall he's still a great player. And, as everybody mentioned, he played better than a bunch of other celtics did this game.

And you're right, even in the couple wins we had we're not looking as good as last year, but that might just be what happens coming back from winning a championship. People get overconfident and sloppy. But you can't compare the beginning of this season with the end of last season when the team was playing its best possible ball. If 2 months from now things are looking sketchy, that's when we panic, aight?

i'm very concerned right now.  i'm worried that we won't even go .500 on the road during the regular season.  after watching them lose almost all of the road playoff games last year and then get beat down pretty hard on the road right off the bat.  we are playing very sloppy right now.  20 plus turnovers a game is just awful.  granted, we had a problem with turning the ball over last year, but we need to realize that every single team is gonna be pumped to play us this year...we are the targets.  we can't continue turning the ball over like this and expect to win.  and god help our free throw shooting.  it's just plain awful.  rondo is KILLING ME with all of these misses at the line.  you would have thought he would have spent the offseason trying to improve from the charity stripe.  he's got the most awkward shot i've ever seen.  also, it would be nice to see perkins stop getting into foul trouble right off the bat.  it's frustrating that most games he has 3 to 4 fouls before halftime.

c'mon doc...get this team playing better!

It's not possible to fo .500 on the road anyway.

I'm not fussed, early days. They'll find their feet.

so beating a team picked to go to the finals by 3/8 experts on ESPN.com at home with good defense and blowing out a team like thier a JV squad is moot because we lost our first game on the road?

what "trend" did you see in our horrable first two games again? the fact that we won a game vs. one of the top eastern teams and destroyed a lesser team? thats a bad trend you saw continuing in indy?

this blog makes me chuckle on a daily basis, nothing counts except losses. if we had gone 10-0 to start this season and lost game 11, these over reaction threads would have come just as fast.

I notice thier were no "good job x" threads after two quaility wins, but one loss on the road in freaking game 3, and suddenly i know this from 4 over reaction threads that have been posted.

1. we have no shot at winning the title, and will be lucky to make the playoffs.

2. we'll be lucky to go .500 on the road

3. the lakers would sweep us, and might win 70+ games

4. Ray allen can't play anymore, and should be traded ASAP

5. Kg is not a dominate player, mabey not even top 20 (lol)

6. danny not resigning posey doomed us to a first round playoff exit.

7. We are MABEY the 5th best team in the conferance.

8. Eddie house is a horrid shooter (i had a big LOL at this one)

9. Wyc and danny don't care about championships now that the've won one.

10. our window of oppertnity closed with posey leaving.

We have our 2nd back to back Wednesday. I think we should take a close look at Ray's performance. If he continues to play bad in back to backs, our theory may soon be true. :-\
