I recognize we never trade with NJ, but here's an idea that brings in a big guy with boston roots who needs a bigs coach and a veteran atmosphere to bring out his upside.

Boston gets Williams, a former teammate of KG's in Hassell (a bit more usefulness than Scal / can play some ltd minutes harassing SGs and SFs, whose contact matches Scal's in length), and roster flexibility to sign PJ Brown or another need midseason. Williams can work with Cliff Ray to bring out his potential.

NJ gets a swing player with solid d and offensive upside (Giddens), Big Baby and a Scal, who will be solid in the NJ locker room once again. And they save money while they rebuild.

You can take Hassell and Scal out of the deal but considering Veal's history there, Hassell's defensive ability and history with KG, and the financial savings to NJ i threw them in there.

Williams got into trouble with herb in Boston and I doubt moving back to his old connections is going to be a great idea. Besides, the only thing he can do is block shots and he seems to gamble a lot for that weak side block rather than staying with his man. He exhibits a very low basketball IQ that really wouldn't fit in on our team. Scal, at the end of the bench, doesn't hurt the team. He's a good guy and a good teammate. That's all you can ask for in a bench warmer. I'll pass on Williams. CDR on the other hand, if we could get a package for him, that would be very nice. We should have picked him rather than Giddens.

Not sure about this one.  Williams has amazing physical gifts, but he seems like a pretty clueless player.  He may be the next Stromile Swift.

I'd love to see a guy from BC on the Celtics (I go to BC), but I'm not sure that'd be a great idea.  Sean Williams sure has potential, but does he have the head for it?  It's a big question, and I don't think we'd be doing right by trading off players we know for a project we don't.

Sean Williams rides the bench behind Ryan Anderson.

I sat a few rows back from the Jersey bench last month, the guy is a clown. Dancing to the timeout music, posing for pictures for the girls in front of me - not a player that would last here.

Yeah, when it comes to guys from BC I'd much rather have Craig Smith or Jared Dudley.

Maybe Tyrese Rice as future backup PG  ;D

I think I'd rather have Big Baby than Sean Williams. Big Baby is starting to develop a mid range jumper, improved his defense and rebounding. Sean Williams is just freakishly ahletic and can block shots really well. I don't think he can do much else. He can't do much on offense but catch alley oops and dunk on fast break. Not to mention his basketball IQ is comparable to Gerald Green.


I think we should give JR Giddens a chance to prove himself before trading him. Trenton Hassell, who's on the downside of his career. I don't think Hassell can contribute more to our team than Giddens or Scalabrine.
