Well that's 1 W in the bag 81 more to go. Who's next?

Anyone else find themselves laughing while watching the Lakers play. Sort of like in a "Haha we beat those losers" type of way. It's funny watching them and there imaginary championship swagger. Losers...
Did you see odem throw the pass to sasha who was standing up from the bench? that made me laugh.

Great game.  Watched it with my buddy from Cleveland (who wasn't too happy about the outcome).

Big Baby shooting long jumpers?not a good idea.

Yup. Not a good idea at all.

As my buddy from Cleveland said during the game, "Yup, we'll let him take that shot all game...."

Love seeing the effort from TA and my man Powe (Cal product, like me  ;) ).  My only complaint: it wasn't enough of a blow out that we got to see Walker, Giddens, Pruitt and POB.
Celtics fan for life.

watched this one at the bar, so here's my post game thoughts

awesome raising ceremony. Defintly some dust around the bar area during pierce getting his ring heh.

would have loved to listen to his speech, to bad the production crew had reggie miller blabbing over it, and then, in the middle of it JACKED REGGIES MIC so that i couldn't hear pierce at all. way to know what people turned in for guys, it wasen't reggie waxing on about his career.

from the game: 1st half was fustrating, because outside of the captain, we couldn't throw a brick in the ocean. and the most fustrating part was that we were getting good looks, just missing them. Ring lag for sure hehe. the encoruging part was we could play that bad and stay in it.

2nd half, we got back to work. great team D, better (though clearly still off) contributions from ray ray and KG, and leon kept on keeping on.

Paul was paul :D

and, since i was a noted "TA is probley not going to help us much" guy, who has been intiruged by his preseason, for his first game, let me be the first to give him a

for his time on the floor. keep it up tony, i'd be super happy to be wrong :D

Yup. The positives definitely outweighed a couple of mistakes with the basketball.

Sloppy game, but the defensive definitely was elevated to championship level in the second half.

Urge all of you to check the box scores - too many minutes for Allen, especially, Garnett and Pierce. Still believe we need a reliable backup 5 and a perimeter shooter off the bench to repeat.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

im nto sure, to be honest, that it would change how doc uses ray (i.e to much)

doc tends to treat ray ray like tim wakefield, he can go forever in doc's mind.

not that it seemed to hurt us last year, and ray is probley the most "in shape" celtic, barring mabey rajon.

My laptop crashed and I couldn't get to the site last night so my thoughts on what I saw last night:

- Pierce's loss of weight really improved his first step and he schooled LeBron many times or LeBron put on more muscle weight slowing him down forcing him to try to anticipate moves and look really bad a bunch of times. Maybe a little of both but probably a bit more of the former than the latter.

- Tony Allen is still Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He was awful in the first half being almost incapable of keeping up with Boobie Gibson and doing his best impersonation of Sam Cassell while almost shooting the team out of the game. Then in the second half he made those two rather ill advised drives to the basket that had good results and suddenly his defense returned and he was going baseline over LeBron.

- The announcers were playing up the Cavs defensive effort at halftime but what I saw was the Celtics missing a ton of open looks, especially Ray and KG. The Celtics got the shots they wanted out of the starters but just missed open looks.

- Except for Powe and Tony's second half, the bench was not good. Eddie was off and showed that he still has a lot of trouble with pressure. Watching Tony bring up the ball in the second half scared the you know what out of me even though he did a decent enough job.Davis' rebounding was okay but everything else, yuk.

- This might sound off but I think we just witnessed Rondo's average night for this team. 12 PPG, 6-7 APG, 5 RPG, 3 STPG, 1-2 TOPG and a bunch of fouls mixed in with great pressure defense. When he has really good games his stat lines are going to be something to behold.

- Can we now outwardly acknowledge that there is definitely a conspiracy afoot to make sure LeBron gets every questionable foul go his way. The refs went way out of their way to make sure LeBron got calls and only was called for the most obvious stuff. And the national outlets, never, and I mean never, replay any of his questionable stuff. He ran over three people last night and got the call every time and did we see one replay to confirm it wasn't a charge, nope. Just a closeup of LeBron getting up off the ground holding a body part as if he had just been shot. Someone needs to explain to me how LeBron gets decked by players who are inches smaller than him and who he outweighs by 60-70 lbs, how he gets up hobbling and holding his head or arm or hand in excruciating pain and yet somehow still has the courage to go on 5-6 times every game. The whole ordeal makes me ill.

- Guess the whole rotation question has been answered. The rooks are headed to the NBDL, Sam will be the defacto coach, and we will almost never see Scal and POB.

- Tom Thibodeau Associate Head Coach?? Was that his title last year, too??

- Could someone have please put a body on Andy Varajeo on the defensive boards in the second half. His ability to get offensive boards in the second half was embarrassing.

- Overall, I couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole pre-game ceremonies and wanted to punch the television set when I couldn't get to hear Paul's annual, first game thank you and pep talk for the first time ever. Hey, you're TNT, you have jettisoned the local outlets from televising the game. At least make sure you show everything happening at the game that the local outlets would have televised. I have never missed a Pierce first game speech and now I have because Reggie and the Czar had to babble on and on and on. That angered the ever living hell out of me.

- Could the TNT studio personnel and game announcers, who I know hate the Celtics, have been any more obviously biased towards any team not wearing green last night. "Lakers the the present, Portland is the future." "No one has the will to win like Kobe Bryant" during a Celtics telecast?? Every Celtic mistake was because the Cavs were doing something great?? The absolute vitriolic hate coming from Charles and Kenny Smith regarding the Celtics at times?? I'm not sure how much nationally televised games I will be able to tolerate this year from that group.

good points nick, TP. i'm with you on the shooting woes, i think that they got good looks, but everyone was off. (minus paul)

i attribute it to "what? i have to play basketball now??" post very emotonal ring ceremony. which is completly understandable, and also great to see them fight back out of in the second half.

TP. I completely agree with everything you said. Esp. about the TNT crew. Kenny was especially obnoxious with his view of Houston. I understand he is a bit of a homer because he played there and won championships. But for that reason alone I would think he would realize getting Artest is a risk and it could just as easily not work. Artest is crazy and not in a good way, like KG is.  :D At least Charles was able to be objective in that one case. Celtics even after winning a championship are being doubted completely. Well, we all know how the so-called 'experts' looked during the finals. C's will make them eat their predictions again.

One more thing, the Lebron hype is so bad that I am glad Lebron skipped the ring ceremony. All TNT would do is have the camera on the annointed one to see his reaction.
