I am now a junior at Providence College and providence college added the NFL network to our standard cable which i guess is kind of cool because you can get updates on all of the scores and see parts of different games.  The worst part is, they replaced Comcast Sports Net in order to add the NFL network.  Now i will not be able to watch any of the games this year!  How could they replace CSN especially after the celtics win a championship?  Anybody have any connections with Providence College or anyone that works for cox cable that can look into the situation?  I am currently starting a petition because there are tons of celtics fans on campus who are outraged by this.  Any ideas on what I should do?

that is un-acceptable
i am compelled to start a petition to support your petition stating that the stress their decision to replace CSN with nfl network has had on the college students is reflecting poorly on their status as an accepted university

Wow, really?  That's crazy...  CSN has been part of the basic cable package forever.  Not having the Celts via cable would suck.

The funny thing is, the Celtics Team President, Rich Gotham, is a graduate of Providence College.

I guess they're still mad that we got rid of Gomes (and Eric Williams, and of course Marty Conlon.)  Or perhaps this is the curse of Marvin Barnes?

I would write to him and tell him that as an alum he can not possibly let this happen.

Having lived in Rhode Island for 11 years, let me say that this is just the typical, backward, idiotic, short-sighted, ridiculous decisions you see made by businesses and government and people in Rhode Island all the time.

Most decision makers in the state of Rhode Island wouldn't know how to get out of their own way. It doesn't surprise me one bit that the people in charge at PC made this decision. It ranks right up there with getting rid of their baseball program just when it was coming into prominence and getting some national exposure.

I agree, transfer. Applications for transfer for the spring semester at Boston College are still be accepted.

When I attended Bryant College (15 minutes west of Providence) in the early 2000's, we had NESN replaced. Students freaked out and Bryant is way smaller than PC. They restored NESN but it wasn't the general outrage that got it back, it was getting the student government involved. I'd recommend doing any petitions or whatnot in alliance with the student government because they know how to go about matters in a more official manner that the school respects. On the bright side at least you'll get the Thanksgiving night game & Thursday games that are only on NFL Network...the dorms will be goin crazy during that huge Broncos/Browns tilt in Week 10. Yikes!

I think I might still have a small buzz from visiting a friend for "Happy Hour" at Bryant in the early 90's.   :-X

Get all the students to vow to keep all their electricity being used at all times, all appliances on, TV's on air conditioners on, lights on, everything, their bill will go through the roof and environmental groups will come down on the school for killing the planet, then you can say, "How come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up, IT'LL BE ANARCHY!"

Yeah, that's it.

Don't Celtics.com allow people from the New England area to watch the games online, now?
