Donny is absolutely terrible. He's boring first off, but that isnt even what makes him bad. All he talks about is reminding us, by the way I was on the Nets. And he tries to give us anecdotes to when he "played". Note to Donny, you never "played" you were on the team and got a check. But you didn't "play". Don't tell us what people should have done when you didn't do it yourself. With a career shooting percentage of 32% and under 1000 minutes played in 5 seasons I don't think your insight is worth much.
He tries to be anti-Tommy so much is painful. He goes overboard in trying to make it look like he's being objective. It ends up being the opposite. I remember the Nuggets game he did, which was one of the worst officiated games ever played...(the numbers actually back it up) I think the Celtics had 25+ more fouls against them than the Nuggets, and the worst Donny said was "that was a difficult call" once. He also made excuses and tried to explain how the refs were doing a good job when it was clear they werent.
He is just trying not to step on anyones toes and try to use this as a stepping stone to a national gig. It gets in the way of real commentary and insight and for my money just irritates me. He isnt good at his job, and even if you werent good at it be entertaining? He is neither. All we hear about is "by the way, remember when me and Ray were on the same team at UCONN?? O yea, one time I went over to his house and we ate Mac and Cheese together"
The sad day in which Tommy finally retires...lets give Cornbread a call. Tell Donny to take a hike.
