I wanted some feedback for a trade (which I'll post below, but I thought this page could be used for throwing out trade to ideas and getting feedback.

My trade is in a keeper roto league.  We have a separate rookie draft (any player who is on a current NBA roster but hasn't played in an NBA game in his career is eligible).

I'm wondering if trading up to the 6th pick with the 12th and 9th would be substantially worth it.  Are there enough rookies who will make an impact this season that keeping the two lower picks would yield me 2 players of similar output to the 6th, or is there a huge dropoff.

I also have the 2nd pick in the draft which I'm excited about.

1. Do you have enough roster space to keep all picks and players regardless? Or if you draft 9 & 12 will you have to cut someone? I'm going to assume you can keep everyone.

2. What does your Board look like?  Basically, if you think you have a can't-miss guy in the top six, take that pick. if there's any question, take the two picks and give yourself a better chance of landing a useful rookie. Remember that EVERY rookie is made to sound good in the offseason, but VERY FEW actually pan out for anything useful in terms of fantasy production.

3. Am I missing any major players that are eligible in your system? I can't remember.

1. Oden
2. Beasley
3. Rudy Fernandez (more ready than most rookies)
4. Love (lots of chance to play, bad team.)
5. Westbrook (ditto)
6. Rose (crowded backcourt, overrated i think, especially for stats)
7. Mayo (esp. points, bad team)
8. Marc Gasol (more experienced than most rookies, memphis desperately needs big man production)

Man, that list is not perfect, but it looks like those top 7 could be valuable fantasy guys this year. Might be worth it to guarantee yourself a top 6 rookie. The more I think about it, you should probably take one of those top 6. If you decide to keep 9 & 12, keep an eye for sleepers like:

-Hibbert (experienced, O'neal may miss time and they'd love a big guy to let bosh play pf)
-Robin Lopez (if shaq misses a lot of time)
-Bill Walker (kidding, but YAY, glad he's doing well, hope he comes back full health a la powe)
-Donte Green (played well over the summer, not much SF competition in SAC, someone needs to put up stats there)
-Darrell Arthur (underrated out of Kansas, may get a chance on that terrible memphis team)

1) You can keep the rookies stashed on a farm portion of the roster without counting towards your player total, so they are very valuable.  Once you activate one they count towards your player total.

2) I haven't really been doing much research on it yet, so I was looking for some guidance (which you covered in 3) Oden would be eligible, but he was drafted last year and its a keeper league, so unless someone cuts him he wouldn't be there.

Thanks for the list.  Appreciate it.  I think I'll throw the offer out there for the 6th.

You know, when I first saw this title, I thought it was a fantasy trade dealing with Scali.

If you need advise with what to do with Scali on your Fantasy team you might need to consider a new hobby. ;D

Now, if your having actual Hoops Fantasies about Scali, then all I can say is "JOIN THE CLUB."

Scali for Cardinal?  That is a real debate.

Though decision. I have no idea. Going through Fan from VT list, I can see guys like Westbrook producing very little stat-wise. I guess I'd go for the 6th, but besides Beasley, Love, Mayo and Fernandez all the other guys are somewhat crap-shots (btw, just a nipticking: Hibbert is playing for the Pacers). At the 12th you'll probably have guys like Gordon, Bayless and the Lopez twins available. If you keep the lower picks, consider Toronto's backup PG, Solomon, that guy can play and Calderon will get injured at some point.

Just out of curiosity, who are you going to pick with the 2nd, assuming Beasley goes 1st?

Well, it's funny the guy the 1st pick also has the 3rd pick, so we've been dancing around not trying to show our hand.  Ideally, I'd like Beasley, but I'm warming to up to the idea of Mayo.  The draft is on the 17th, so I'm hoping to see what these guys do in preseason a bit.  I haven't a pick this high in a really long time (my team is usually pretty good).  I had to go into major rebuild mode, and I'm pretty well set up for this season, but the 2nd pick is a biggy in that process.

I got a question for everyone.

Who would you want more on your fantasy team (assuming you don't need a stat category specifically):
Ray Allen or Stephen Jackson?

Howabout out of this 3:
Chris Kaman, Mehmet Okur and Al Horford?
*please rank them

I ended up making the trade and now have the 2nd and 6th picks.

I'd still like to hear some opinions as I'm not settled on who to go for at #6.  The college draft is tonight.  It's a keeper league with salaries and locking up a stud rookie at a reasonable salary in the draft is a huge benefit.

On a side note I talked with my friend who has the 1st and 3rd picks today.  We've been trying to get info out of each other for months now.  I think I screwed up though!  We actually told each other what we were thinking of doing.

He told me first he wants Rose with his first pick and he's 90% sure.  Besically he ranks the guys Rose, Beasley, Mayo (he has a bunch of bigs and has less of an immediate need for Beasley).

So he told me his plan and said what I told him wouldn't have any effect on who he's taking.  When I realized that it actually would effect his plan I paused before telling him.  He said, "Come on, I told you my plan, what's yours?"...See I like Beasley, Mayo, Rose in that order.

So by telling him this he can take Beasley first, knowing he can still get Rose 3rd - unless I double cross him and take Rose even though I like Mayo more.

Sooooooooooooooo...

What should I do?

1) Thoughts on who to take at the 6th pick

2) Who to take at #2 given the above scenarios.  I think he'd be foolish to not take Beasley at this point, given my confeession.

Oh the head games...

Input would be appreciated.

Eh...  leverage him for Rose; if he really likes him as the #1 prospect, I'm sure he'll deal with you.

Yeh, I guess the worse that happens is I end up with Rose.  Long haul I think he'll more solid than Mayo...

Wow...Ended up with Beasley at #2 and Fernandez at #6

I just missed Gasol.  He went 13th.  I grabbed Hibbert & Gallinari at 14 & 15

I'm  a happy camper!
