Wow...Ended up with Beasley at #2 and Fernandez at #6

I just missed Gasol.  He went 13th.  I grabbed Hibbert & Gallinari at 14 & 15

I'm  a happy camper!

Wow.  Beasley and Fernandez could very easily be the two best fantasy producing rookies this year (with the exception of Oden.)

By the way...  why was Fernandez available, but presumably Oden wasn't?

It's a keeper league.  Oden was drafted last year and kept.  Players have to be on an NBA roster and never played an NBA game in order to be eligible.

OK, I need one last bit of advice.  I need to make my keeper cuts.  I can keep 8 of these guys.  The # next to them is their salary.  All free agents end up in an auction and we have a total of $250 to spend for 15 spots.  I'm in really good shape with the salaries, so that's not a big part of the consideration.  (All of the Celts big 3 are available free agents to bid on this year...so I can dream about getting all 3)

I pretty much have 7 of the 8 keepers for sure.

Dalembert, Samuel C PHI
   30
Green, Jeff SF OKC    16
Barbosa, Leandro SG PHO    15
Alston, Rafer PG HOU   10
Murphy, Troy PF IND    8
Harris, Devin PG NJ    5
Smith, J.R. SG DEN    5

Udrih, Beno PG SAC    5
Lee, David PF NY    5
Ellis, Monta SG GS    2

It comes down to whether I trust Beno, or think Green can develop in his 2nd season.  Alston is going to produce but he shoots such stink pct's
Yup

Trade offer I just received for a keeper roto league:

I get
Yao & Billups

for
Beasley & Rudy Fernandez

I could really use Yao's blocks and boards etc (assuming he returns to his normal stats form), but he's such a risk.

The other factor is salaries.  The rooks are cheapo and the vets are expensive.

Any thoughts?

To me, the risks associated with Yao and Fernandez are about the same. Yao has the obvious health risks, while Fernandez clearly benefits from an uptempo style (the kind difficult to play with Aldridge, Oden, and Frye as bigs). He's been frustrated so far, but I doubt Portland would try to move him at this point. I think it comes down to Billups vs. Beasley... If you made this move, would you use the cap space elsewhere on a stat category you need? Maybe package Yao before he gets hurt again to get a reliable boards/blocks guy

Thanks.  I think I'm just too binkified by my rooks right now to pull a trigger on a trade that probably would help me in the short run.

I dunno

Haha fair enough... Treat it like a standard team... are you in to win now or in a few years? Buyer or seller?

The thing that kills me with keeper leagues are people who have too much of a mix of vets and rooks... I always think either rebuild or be in to win now... it's tough to straddle the fence.

See what I mean though about going both ways with it? You wouldn't want the Celtics in that situation... Destined for a decade of 6, 7, and 8 seeds with no real advancement plan

What's the rest of the deal and what is your roster?

Keeper league or not?  Points league or categories?  Standard 9 categories or customized?  How are you on points / rebounds / blocks?

There's an easy way to compare their season and career numbers here and here.

It's a standard league... No keeper

Here is my roster:

http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=53263&teamId=1&seasonId=2009

With Kevin Martin coming back soon I figure I can sacrifice the scoring that West has over KG and welcome the rebounds, Blocks, steals...

It's not as big of an advantage as it used to be (even las year), but KG is still a minor upgrade over West.
