2k9 owns Live...haven't stopped playing it since I got it. They really improved the graphics, you can actually tell the players apart now.

I played Live the other day at a friend's house and wasn't impressed.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
if you guys are on the 360, get on 2kshare and grab OS Outsiders rosters (the gamertag you'll be looking for is portlandblazer)...he and another guy named nogster have put together up-to-date rosters that have a ton of player edits in them (gabe pruitt added) and are well worth your time - probably the best set out there.

Recently purchased a 360 and 2K9 to go with it, and it is an absolutely superb game. 2K just keeps getting better.

That's another thing a million games coming out that i really want, but 60 dollar games add up fast.

Truthfully... if I ever had any interest in purchasing NBA Live 09... I totally lost it after watching those 15 minute commercials they kept playing during the Cavs/Celtics and Blazers/Lakers game.  A bunch of manic random highlights spliced with some shots of terrible in-game graphics and animations... while some obnoxious neverending craptastic song played ...

It never ended

it just kept going and going and going... with some stupid shot of some "DNA"-esque graphic every 5 minutes.   Worst commercial ever.   I hate that game.  I refuse to ever play it.  A commercial has never made me hate a product more than those.  Whoever was in charge needs to be fired immediately.

TP. new rule ad execs. if your game looks terrable next to the real thing (seriously, were those PS2 screens? some of my non-gamer friends were laughing thier heads off watching some of those "comparision" cuts. LBJ and KG in particular look super awful.) don't run one of those ads. just don't.

I wonder if this is the year that Live finally bites the dust.

I don't know, but 2K sports should just get the rights so Live can't make anymore hoops games, kind of like what EA did to them with football.  Was a shame, NFL 2k5 was better then madden that year.
do it

another aspect that sucks with all this is that EA has exclusive rights to the college basketball game.

there are some guys at operationsports.com working on updating the college basketball rosters for 2k hoops, thankfully.

EA has lost their touch with basketball games, IMO, since nba live '98...

I haven't played the new 2K yet, but my brother has recently bought the Live and everybody in the house has been pretty into it.  I played it twice and had a lot of fun.  I particular like the international teams.  You can play with any country and they actually all the correct player names.  I played an exciting game of Canada against Angola and what was cool was seeing the name of the players that played in the Olympics, even for Angola.  You can have some random matchups, like Iran versus Lithuania.  Anyway, I like Live.

I miss the first version of live that I played on my my pre-windows laptop with only 4 shades on my display. Laptop didn't even have a hard disk.

I also miss the original Madden for the Sega Genesis. No time to buy a console these days.
