Beer Suggestions

Rainy & dreary day here in Mass. So, I'm sitting here on the couch watching college football and drinking some beers. 

Just curious as to what CBers feel are some of the better fall/seasonal/Oktoberfest beers out there right now.

Nothing beats a nice Natty Light.  Oh, wait, you said good beers?

I always miss out on the Octoberfest beers because I'm busy pecking away at the annual over abundance of beer I purchase during the summer.  Mmmmm...nothin' says Thanksgiving like a Sam Summer Ale (or Valentine's for that matter).

I either need to buy less or drink more...Any suggestions

A very good pumpkin beer is Dogfish Head's Punkin (and yes, that's spelled correctly) Ale.  There are a lot of pumpkin ales out there, but this is truly one of the best.  It't a high quality brown ale, with pumpkin mixed in along with some seasonal spices.  It is pumpkiny, but not over the top in an artificial manner. 

The downside?  While you can get it all of the Northeast (and I believe the country), the price goes up the further you get from Deleware.  I got it for $42 a case in Philadelphia.  The other problem?  They only make a limited amount.  The distributor I got it from was only able to get 5 cases for the entire year, despite wanting to get more. 

But if you can get your hands on it and don't mind dropping some money, it's pretty good stuff.  Plus, while $42 a case sounds expensive, that's still less than $2 a beer.  You probably wouldn't blink to pay more than that for a Miller Lite at a bar.

Sam Octoberfest is always excellent, each year gets better and better.

I fondly remember the night me and my buddy went to the local pub to catch up and we realized Sam Oktoberfest was finally back on draft - a few good pints we had that night

I did pick up the Harpoon version the other night, and I'll say its ok. not great but ok.

For pumpkin ales, Shipyard's Pumpinkhead is about as amazing a beer as I've had in a long time, can only have 1 or 2, but it has so many different flavors, all which work together

Boston Beer Works has about 16 beers on tap every night. They brew their own beer so its great. One of the beers they just got going is Pumkin Head. Its a great Oktoberfest beer. If you dont like it, theres about 15 others to choose from anyways. Theres one on Canal St. right by the Garden and one by Fenway Park as well... Great food too.

Knuckleheads, or people who are enjoying life.  I am all for working out, but if it means I can't have a pint or two, now and again...well, then the beer wins out.

I hit the gym 4-5 days a week.  I like to enjoy a beer every now and then. Still feel fine.

when did this become men's fitness blog?

last I checked if I had to choose between beer and working out, lets just say the gym membership would be going to waste...

I do work out, though I can only do it through playing sports, lifting/running bores the crap out of me...but I am heavily active 3-4 hours per week, and I'm always walking around on my job, we put a pedometer on me once, it was like 6 miles in a day...

that said, I'm sure beer doesn't give me the best figure, but you know what, it tastes so darned delicious its worth it =)
