I really didn't see anything particulary wrong with the interview.  He doesn't want to give up any of the 22 million -- his right. He believes in his own skills -- nothing wrong with that. He thinks he has been a good teammate -- how would anyone not with the team know what kind of a teammate he's been (incidents of misbehavior may be cause to be dubious of his value as a teammate, but I still feel his teammates are the true judges). He seems wound up a bit tight to me, trying to say the right words to show he's at peace when he doesn't necessary seem at peace, but it is pure speculation and rather unfair to read into what is behind his words when I don't know him at all.

I am not suggesting it would be a good idea to bring Marbury aboard, but I'd be interested in seeing someone lay out the litany of Marbury's indescretions through his 13 years in the NBA and then offering opportunity to assess whether these amount to a few behavioral lapses as opposed to a distinct pattern that is predictive of future problems.

I think KG, as a former teammate, may have a more istructive point of view -- though I don't know what KG thinks of Stephan.  I realize there are those who beleive that the acts of a young man brand that man for life; but I believe that people do grow up and I also believe that people are influenced (positively or negatively) by the culture around them.  I have no opinion on Marbury because I don't know him, so I choose to have faith in those who do know him well and those who understand the team culture of the Celtics -- they will make the correct decision (hopefully) if Marbury becomes available.

Neurotic Guy... your comments on the actions of a "young man" following them seem a little misplaced.

Marbury has been repeatedly reported by fans, teammates and media to be a real jerk as recently as last year.  1) He's no longer a young man and 2) This isn't "for life" this is "for a few years".

I don't care if he offered to play for the vet minimum.  I wouldn't want him on this team.  He is poisonous.

This is why I ask for the littany.  It may be assumed that everyone who reads these pages is in touch with the life history of Stephan Marbury, but most of us (myself included) tend to make impressions based on comments like 'he's poison, he's a cancer, a punk, etc... While none of these comments are actually instructive.  What I hoped for (and you did provide at least the idea that fans, teammates, etc. thought him a jerk last year) was an actual rundown of his actions, and perhaps quotes from those who know him.  I really am not making a determination that you and others here are wrong, I just have not seen the evidence.  Sometimes a reputation is built on a mountain of evidence and sometimes it is built upon hearsay.  I fully believe the evidence is there, I'd just like to see it.

First off, The C's don't need a PG. They have Rondo, House, Pruitt, and maybe Cassell.

This is precisely why the Celtics could use Marbury.

"Marbury has been repeatedly reported by fans, teammates and media to be a real jerk as recently as last year.  1) He's no longer a young man and 2) This isn't "for life" this is "for a few years"."

First of all, how do fans know Marbury personally? What difference does it make what fans think of a certain player or not? What teammates have come out, other than Quentin Richardson, to say Marbury is a terrible teammate? The rest have been quoted as being "anonymous" - which is gutless. If you're going to say something about a teammate to the press, put your name behind it or don't say it all. It's bush league. As far as the media goes, again, they don't know Marbury personally.

Some stuff to consider - James Posey, with his DUI, has been in more off the court trouble than Marbury. Marbury has never been prosecuted for anything or even arrested to my immediate recollection. You have to consider that this may just be reputation preceding him which is unfair.

Darius Miles, J.R.Giddens, Patrick O'Bryant, Bill Walker, Tony Allen. Now Stephon Marburying?
Too many question marks on this team.

We might as well sign Amy Winehouse.

Danny, Please do not get this guy. He is out of his mind. Let him go join the Peacecore and save the planet. I hope he joins another club that needs him. Can you imagine this guy having a conversation with Ray Allen lol. Think Ray would demand a trade if he joined the team.

In fairness to the C's, Having admittedly heard just one of this individuals musical creations, she's got far less upside than the fellas Danny has contracted.

First off, The C's don't need a PG. They have Rondo, House, Pruitt, and maybe Cassell.

Second, does Starbury really mean he'll willing come off the bench? Of course he's going to say that, most players aren't dumb enough to say publicly that they demand to start.

Third, The C's have enough knuckleheads and low risk high reward type players. If anything, Boston needs some reliable vets at the Center and SF position.

Please don't sign him, Danny. I'd take Sam over him in a heartbeat.

Just curious....who exactly consist of this "enough knuckleheads" that you mention? Now we're a team with a bunch of knuckleheads? I'd be really interested in you qualifying that statement.

I'd rather have Marbury than Cassell.  But my strong preference would be to have neither.

I find it weird that Marbury went out of his way to say "no disrespect to Rondo".  It just seemed like he was told by someone that this is Rondo's team.

KG?

Maybe I'm looking into it too much.  But I'm sure that Marbury's first choice is to play here if he wants a ring and wants to be in a stable enviroment as much as he says.

Its interesting because if the choice of Marbury or Cassel comes across Danny, with his track record and frankly the celtic's track record of taking talented malcontents, there's no telling what he'd do.

Personally I think its a bad idea not because of attitude problems but because Rondo shouldn't have someone breathing down his neck at this stage in his career.  They need to give him the reigns and the faith because this is the year that he becomes a top 5 point guard.

Roy, I stand corrected. My apologies - I should have done my due diligence.
