  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Im about to get my bs in biology, and my genetics professor (and self-proclaimed "bug guy" hobbyist) was right behind me in the computer lab when i was looking at this.

It is not an american cockroach, but neither are more roachs we see.

However it is not a cockroach at all and most certainly carnivorous (based on the shape and curve of the mandible), possibly parasitic. He said you probably caught it by surprise and try waking up around 2am and quickly hitting the lights in your bedroom. Your bedroll should be covered with them. Also he said wash all your cloths and possibly burn your bedding, unless you're ok with the house (and body) guests.

I was kidding...looks like a German Cockroach to me, which most cockroachs in buildings in america are. A young german cockroach.

It is eerily similar to the infamous "Is that a rat on my ceiling" thread

tommy point for reggies ghost.  That is a pretty good size earwig you have there.  I find those things all over my summer house in maine but they are usually crawling around in damp towels that people leave on the floor.

Nah, it's not a German cockroach. I know what it is but I can't talk about it because the info is classified. I can give you some mixed blessings though BG. One the one hand...Congratulations, you are going to be a father! On the other hand, you are going to be the mother too. Don't worry about the kids though. They'll have plenty to eat.

why does having a bug= having a dirty room? My room is neat, yet masculine.

because insects feed on strife and filth and run away when the lights are on. like the Lakers Fan base.

Isn't great how anything can be twisted as an insult to the Lakers!

Yep, sumpum like that times a thousand. I always say though, try to look at the bright side of things. In this case we should all remember there's nothing quite as special as bringing life into the world.

Great thread. Kind of Kafkian.

In portuguese, that bug is called "rapelho" or "bicho-da-lenha". The scientific name is Forficula auricularia ( http://acabado.blogspot.com/2008/01/todos-pelo-forficula-auricularia.html ).

It's very common on gardens (and useful, as it feeds mostly from nocive insects). Not so much in one's bed. Do you have a fireplace in your room?

i know! i didn't even have them in the orignal joke, but it was just too easy. It's like that old joke where you add "in bed" to everything, it can be used for everything. ;D
