We had 44 voters for the Eastern Conference.  Results are as follows:

Atlantic:

New Jersey 1.93
New York 2.34
Philadelphia: 3.25
Toronto: 3.45
Boston: 4.02

Southeast:

Orlando: 2.26
Charlotte: 2.43
Atlanta: 2.55
Washington: 3.62
Miami: 4.14

Central:

Detroit: 2.42
Chicago: 2.74
Cleveland: 2.88
Milwaukee: 3.37
Indiana: 3.58

Looking at these results, I'm shocked at how bunched they were, especially in the Central and Southeast.  Looking at the individual votes, it seems as though some people may have been confused about how to rank teams.  Additionally, there were some suspicious looking votes, although it was difficult to determine what teams benefited most from the relatively small number of odd ballots.

So, it's official.  The Eastern Conference division winners are New Jersey, Detroit, and Orlando, which sounds right to me.  All other playoff teams, as well as seeding of division winners, will be determined by a separate vote to be conducted shortly.

The three div winners are who we thought they were ("They are who we thought they were!"), but it is surprising to see the tight finish in the SE. I thought Orlando was the cream of the division by far.

Can you elaborate on the suspicious votes, Hobbs? Hanging chads? Butterfly ballots? Diebold machines?

me too  :'(

But i also thought that ATL was a very close second.... Not sold at all on CHA.

Also next year I'd like to suggest/help with the voting being closer to the draft, my memory is starting to fade on the different teams. But thanks to all who put this togetehr this year, who played and voted!!

If I had to guess on suspicious votes I would say maybe people purposely ranked their competitors low.  Like if I'm Charlotte in the Souteast, knowing I have a good team but Orlando is the favorite and Atlanta is good too, if I gave myself (Charlotte, in this hypothetical situation) a 1 and Atlanta a 4 and Orlando a 5 knowing this could skew the results and I could sneak in and finish first in the division maybe.  That's just my guess on suspicious votes (just using Charlotte as an example, hopefully no offense Charlotte GM).

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Just more "5s" for some of the better teams (New Jersey, Detroit, Orlando) than we otherwise would have expected.  We're not sure if people got confused, or if they intentionally were trying to tank those team's chances.  Again, it was a relatively small number, but it probably made the vote closer than it should have been.

A surprising run of top team getting a 5 and a lower team getting a 1 (and having the exact same votes for the other teams)

Could people vote more than once?

They're not supposed to.  Did they?  No idea.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you next years mid-lottery pick of the Washington Wizards

I was surprised that Cleveland finished behind Chicago. I thought all things being equal, that a healthy DWade and a somewhat gimpy Manu more than equal Kobe. I mean, at least Dwade was able to carry an old Shaq to a title. ;)

Wasn't even remotely surprised to see that the Southeast was as tight as it was.Top to Bottom we're a pretty stacked division. In fact the only thing I was surprised about was the fact that I finished 4th and not 5th. I sense something akin to old Jewish women accidentally voting for Pat Buchannon here, but I'll take it.

Thanks to all who helped me try to figure out how to play this crazy game, especially the commish. Sorry for turning it in to a cluster bomb at least twice. Also, big props to the Southeast for keeping entertaining when the game threatened to get boring or too serious.
