Definitely not a Posey replacement. Lacks height, outside shot, leadership, defense.

Remember when Bonzi was drafted one spot after Pierce in the '98 draft?  We could have picked him.

I like Bonzi for this team a lot. If they do sign him, it will be interesting to watch him and Darius fight it out for the back up swing spot.

Also, the Celts should go after Al Harrington next year.

I agree, but I think Bonzi would beat out Darius easily...unless you meant a fight literally :-\
Anything is possible!!!

The replacement wasn't that he had the same skillset as Posey did, rather being a 6th man off the bench type player. He isn't a defender, but rather a scorer who can drop 10-12 pts in a hurry. My comments were always that if we can't get someone that can defend really well as a replacement, at least we can bring someone in that can outscore their second squad and get us a bucket when we need it. They can either shut them down, or outscore them. Bonzi is the latter. With the guys we have know (Walker and Giddens and now Miles in the mix) we don't know if we have either at this point. You know what you get with Bonzi.

I think in a literal fight, Bonzi would also wreck Miles..

Forgive me if this has been brought up, but why hasn't there been any consideration for Bonzi Wells? I know it's been documented on either Real GM or Hoopsworld, but he could be had a very reasonably rate and he would be a suitable replacement for James Posey.

I agree.  The moves that Ainge has made this offseason have been the pitts. Maybe it's time for Paul Pierce to start getting on his case again like he did last year. It seems the only time Ainge ever acts is when he starts feeling some heat.

If Danny thinks Miles can't provide help at the backup SF, he will be cut and a guy like Bonzi will be signed. If Miles really is cut and Bonzi hasn't signed a contract, I can guarantee that he ends up in Boston. But I don't think Miles will be waived in the first place.

I'm hoping that he's sitting on the remaining 3 mil from the midlevel to see who gets bought out after the trade deadline.  There are a few guys that could help late in the season the way PJ helped last year.  Joe Smith is on a horrible Thunder/Sonics team that won't do anything.  I could see him getting bought out and signing with his old buddy KG.  There are a few others but Joe is probably the most likely to get bought out.  Wouldn't you rather have him than Bonzi?

Whoever said Bonzi doesn't have the best demeanor is correct... however WE JUST SIGNED DARIUS MILES!! He is the biggest jerk I have ever seen PLUS he wasn't that good to begin with... He has unrealized talent and ZERO work ethic, I don't care what they say now about him. All he is/was is athletic. Doesn't know how to play the game at all.

Bonzi can really play. Didn't he have like 6 steals against us?

With trades going back and forth this summer (still more to come I know) it's easy to forget certain players as they won't be staying on that team. Besides Antoine, you're right(TP for that) that Joe Smith should be bought out. Could he be that last big for us to sign to help our bench? He did great against Boston in the playoffs making what seemed like every mid range shot he took. He's a good rebounder, and he's not 6'8 like Powe and BBD. He's close to KG's size(NOT COMPARING THEIR GAME) so I'd love to see him signed and someone else cut(AND I WONT SAY SCAL...)
As for Bonzi(NOPE)Keep Miles and trade a player or two away for a draft pick so we can sign ppl like Joe Smith or whoever.
Can't stop, Rondo!

This link has Bonzi maybe talking to New Orleans, but someone posts at the bottom that Bonzi has been talking with the Celtics for the last two weeks.  Has anyone else heard about this?  News to me.  I figured it would have been in this thread.

I know I mentioned Joe Smith as a better candidate but I would rather have Bonzi now than Joe in February.  Go Danny!

Wells is intriguing for obvious reasons...

I wanna see what Miles has though. I'm assuming Miles would be the one cut for Wells. I really like the idea of adding Miles's above the rim abilities, especially as a help shot blocker... same goes for POB actually. Last year we didn't have much in the way of rim defense coming off the bench.

If you remeber the second team's offense became stagnant in periods throughout games. We definitely need to solve those issues as well.Maybe with Walker,Gidden both suppose to be good offensive players as well as defensive will help  them with the needed scoring power.
