clyde "the glide" drexler...a little shorter....tough defender...big hops...good finisher
In the same vein, Michael Jordan.
If we're comparing the #30 pick in the draft to first ballot Hall of Famers, why limit ourselves?
I mean he reminds me of Bill Russell, if Bill Russell was a swing man.
Insipid sarcasm, boys...Are we comparing Giddens to someone with similar physical characteristics and skills at this point in his career or after they have played in the league for 14 years? My perspective was the former, not the latter, and given that, a #30 pick who would have gone higher, but for his "character issues" is not far off from a #14 pick taken after Rodney McCray and the Tin Man (both picked by Houston, Clyde's hometown team) as well as such immortals as Russell Cross and Sidney Green. By the way, Doc selected 31st in '83....so by your logic? Giddens>>>Doc... In addition, coming out of HS,
Drexler was only given a shot by Houston because of Michael Young (fellow Phi Slamma Jamma) who played against Clyde in HS...So by comparison, Giddens grabbed by KU was more sought after, therefore better?
Not necessarily. All I'm saying is Giddens has great physical ability and upside, already has a defensive and rebounding mindset and can put the ball in the hole. What he'll become is pure conjecture and largely up to him. I like the pick and I like his potential.
