Last summer I heard a great caller to WEEI who was very knowledgeable about the NBA and the Celtics. Really outdid the "Big show" hosts on the particular topic and at the end was kind of repping celticsblog. (which is how I found out about this site)

Just curious as to who you were... :)

Outdoing the big show hosts about basketball would require seeing a game of basketball in the past 7 months... that's about it.

Grande and Max yes, Ordway, no... he's the ultimate bandwagon guy, he completely ignored the c's (and the bruins) until there was success

I respect Ryen Rusillio the most of any local talk radio guy, he eats up the NBA like no other (not just the Celtics either)

His eye on ratings has nothing to do with basketball knowledge....

'EEI listeners... read this.

I would caution you not to. This is the most biased piece of anti - (fill in the blank) propaganda I've ever read.

I think the last time I called in a talk show was for Eddie, Mark & Jim on the Sports Huddle back in the 80's.  I was 13 or 14 and I used to make some crazy voice.  They'd think I was drunk and hang up. Ahhhh, the good ol' days.  The Sports Huddle was great for a while.

WEEI's "coverage" of the Celts made me nuts.  I've harped on it before, but besides the weekly interview with Danny & Doc they largely ignored the Celts until well into the playoffs.  The propensity to whine about the Pats Super Bowl loss months after the fact was just brutal.  Then there was all of the Spygate junk...Uggghhh

Yup

I've only called a sports radio show once, and I got on the air. It was before the NBA draft a few years back, and I called 1510 when the Diehards were on.  I asked about the possibility of the c's drafting Andrew Bynum - and Ryen Rusillio went on to break down the pros and cons of Bynum's game, but he said Bynum would likely be gone before our pick (and he was right) - very knowledgeable stuff

as for that website on someone's listening to 850 for a full day, I thought the analysis was spot on.  I do admittedly listen to the station off and on, but it can be very taxing at times, and I think he hosts see themselves as the show, not the sports they should be covering

No I'm not an employee on Entercom or Weei. Did you read that piece? There was no objectivity to it whatsoever...

It was his opinion, and it is the same as mine.

If weei had any brains they would have been the ones to build celticsblog and other similar boston sports websites.

Instead they put out 12 hours of content a day, six hours of which is commercials-and the rest is mindless backslapping with little value. They specialize in killing time-mission accomplished.

I would have loved to hear that Redz... ;D

I didn't have a problem with the Celtics Coverage. The callers dictate topic flow and never before have I "Jake from Wilmington" called and been denied because I wanted to talk Celtics...

I listen to WEEI/or the Big shot sometimes. I think Glenn Ordway has a great personality and is very knowledgeable about sports in general. I like Steve Buckley's Town and state pride and his historical perspective. I also enjoy Sean Grande and Maxwell...
