There's NOWAY we have a chance of getting Gordon. He'd be perfect as a backup PG or SG if needed but Chicago would never take garbage Scal and a combo of whoever else on the bench for Gordon. Gordon still has tons of trade value, but he needs to settle for less money. There's a better chance that Gordon could be the next Starbury for this year.

We still have to match salaries in a sign and trade, and considering what he's asking for there is no way we could get him without giving up Ray, which makes zero sense for us.

I'm beginning to think that Gordon thinks he is of the caliber of someone like Ray Ray, thus he should be making aroung 15 mill or so/year. But he's much smaller, and not as consistent as Ray thus far in his career...which makes him not of the same caliber.

I'd have to say that his contract demands are what is keeping his trade value low.  Would you be ready to deal for this guy and his overinflated sense of self-value?  His position with the Bulls is better than anywhere he could go in the league.  I'm of the opinion that basketball teams have to have SOMEONE score...even the most terrible teams will have someone putting up decent point totals.  Since he's the only capable scorer on a team with no other capable scorers, he can lead them in PPG and cash his $10M checks, but as soon as he goes to a team with other players who can put the ball in the hoop, we'll find out what he's worth.

The way I see this playing out is that he's burned his bridges in Chicago (should have taken the $10M per last year and he should have taken the contract they offered this year), so he's going to sign a deal below his own value and get traded to go to a team that "respects" and wants him.  There we'll find out that he was just a good scorer on a team with no scoring and he'll never get offered anywhere near the money he could have had the past two years.

This isn't to say that I think Ben Gordon isn't a bad player.  He's a good player.  I think he'd be great offense off the bench.  But he is NOT worth $10M a year.

he's a bench player who can start but they choose to bring off the bench, ala Vinny Microwave Johnson - to get a guy who can accept and thrive as a 6th man is tough, lots of guys take it as a blow to their ego - when you can get 18 ppg off the bench, thats pretty amazing - consider this, the only guy who played more minutes per game last year was Deng...

Gordon had an inflated opinion of himself. he keeps on saying he should be the highest paid player on the Bulls, because he was the high scorer on the team. Can someone please inform Gordon there's more to being a great player than scoring. Many teams have gone in the dumps by paying a scorer superstar money.

Gordon turned down 5/50 and took a risk that he'd have a great yr and make more. He and the Bulls went downhill and now he somehow thinks he's worth 80 million? I just keep hearing him with this high scorer rationale and its getting tiring. if he scores 25 and his opponent scores 25 also, is he that much better than a guy who score 15 and his opponent also scores 15?

Gordon is an 8-10 million a year guy maximum IMO and that is being very generous. This of course depends on the team he is playing for, but is he better than Cuttino Mobley for instance? Not many 6'2" and less SG's out there not named AI who will make 10 million per average. I see a realistic 7-8 million a year but someone may overpay to get a scorer. We dont see anyone beating down doors to add him to the roster or even making an offer this year. That could change next year, but he will see more of the 5/45 variety contract than anything else. He will likley leave the Bulls for spite and take less money. This guy is a potential career 6th man who is one dimensional. No defense, no assists, no leadership, Buyer Beware.

Well, maybe Gordon would have a better chance at playing the PG. Let him play a part of the summer and rest of the a season on a better team that wants him, where he could learn to play that position and be successful at it. Could Phoenix or Dallas make a run for him so Kidd or Nash could train this guy?
