Lithuania is playing well.  I actually think Lithuania has a better chance of beating USA than Spain.  Spain's game is a lot of passing and alley-oop to Pau on the inside.  Something that Spain would never be able to do against our aggressive big players.  If Lithuania can shoot their 3s, they can always keep the game close.  Than the rest is playing good D and keeping the turnovers down.

Big respect to Argentina. They never let the game go although they were tired from the quarterfinal, Manu was out and they are only 6 men deep. Very tough team. Spain is pretty soft on the other side. USA will win the final that`s for sure but i hope that Spain can trouble them in order to watch a nice game

USA men teams have done very good so far. In bball it was expected but not so much in volleyball. It`s not that big surprise since they ve won the world league but i still have trouble understanding how this team without many changes have become so good. The biggest surprise is in water polo. The final is between hungary and usa.

And two pretty interesting stories from the games
1)Van der Wejden is the Dutch guy who won the swimming marathon. Seven years ago he was found to have an inoperable tumor in his lungs
2)Marian Dragulecu is one of the best athletes in gymnastics. World champion in vault and gold winner in Athens. He has a child with serious heath problems. It can be operated but the cost is too high for him. The Romanian government offers to each gold winner 100k euro , enough money for Marian to operate his child. His first attempt was perfect but at his second he fell and it costed it him the first place. He broke down to tears. But luckily for this touched some officials back in Romania and offered to help him financially

Sorry for it being so long.  In a bronze medal taekwondo match the referee disqualified the Cuban competitor only to have the Cuban competitor immediately attack him.  The picture cracked me up.  All I could think about was Steve Brule's Last Resort Fighting.

Pretty disgusting.  The guy's coach didn't even apologize; he condoned the behavior.

Quote from: Yang Jinsuk, Secretary General, World Taekwondo Federation
This is an insult to the Olympic vision, an insult to the spirit of taekwondo and, in my opinion, an insult to mankind

The profanity filter won't let me type the abbreviation for the World Taekwondo Federation, but I thought it would be useful to mention.

If the Cuban taekwondo guy would have only done that to the board members of the IOC I would have been next to his coach condoning it.

Having said that, it sure looked like the fix was in to me in that match.  Quick disqualification trigger there.

That's the problem.  A lot of these events do look fixed.

From what I read (I didn't see the match) the rules state that you only get a minute to recover from an injury.  That minute expired, and the Cuban was disqualified.  Afterward, the Cuban coach complained that the ref should have shown more "leniency".

From my perspective, rules are rules.  If one minute expired, the guy should have been DQ'd, no questions asked.  There's nothing shady about that.
