Highlight of the olympics so far?....no not Michael Phelps...no not Nastia and Shawn...

THE NBA ON NBC THEME!! Couldn't believe it when I heard it during the game the other day, almost jumped out of my chair with excitement. Greatest sports theme ever. Even though it's just a modified version, it still counts.

My top 10 moments of the Olympics (in no particular order)

1) "Lightning" Bolt winning the 100m- still can't believe how easy he made it look.
2) Phelps winning 8th medal- most dominant athlete right now!
3) Japan vs. China women's volleyball- random game that I saw on TV where the rivals going at each other.  The crowd was amazing, and China came out with a hard fought win.
4) Cielo winning the 50m swimming race- just really glad to know that the fastest swimmer is a fellow Brazilian
5) Olympic Ceremony- them Chinese sure put up a hell of a show.
6) USA 4*200m relay- looked like the end, but USA comes with a STRONG finish.
7) USA vs China in men's basketball- great crowd, great place!
8) USA vs Brazil in women's beach volleyball- them girls be hot!
9) Article I read about the Olympics people interacting with each other.
10) Fencing- I knew nothing about this sport but after this Olympics, they have gained my respect as a legitimate sport.

Australia's played very well once again. Beating Lithuania by about 30 points. The 2 centers, Bogut and Anstey, combined for 6/6 from downtown (3 each)...not bad for the big guys.
Anything is possible!!!

Did anyone see the Chinese guy leaving on the 100m hurdles?  That is really really sucks!  The guy is second only to Yao Ming in popularity amongst the Chinese, and he was the lock to get gold on the hurdles.  Then he got hurt before the qualifying, but he tried to run anyway but he couldn't deal with the pain.

My brother said that he found a video where it shows the whole stadium going silent and then some people started crying (I would look for the video but my computer has no sound).  It must stink to lose their Michael Phelps like that.

I can't believe that trampoline is an Olympic sport, but they're getting rid of baseball and softball.

Not that it doesn't take some athleticism, but come on...

Bball quarter finals..... Any predictions?

Argentina - Greece
I think the most interesting game. Argentina is not the 2004 team. The bench is very slim. With only 6 players (though great players) how far can you go? Prigioni will have a very difficult night. He is the only real pg and Greece has the guards to apply a full court press on him. It can go either way. I`m a little biased on this one so any thoughts from a  third eye would be great

USA-Australia
In the last 2-3 games team USA plays better. Or to be exact plays more like a team. I haven`t watched much the Aussies. I like their big men but one way or the other US will win.

Spain-Croatia
Croatia were very happy to qualify to the tournament and now they are in the quarter finals. They are already succesful so the press is off them. But Spain is clearly better team.

Lithuania-China
I don`t like China. They play like a 90`s east euro team. Too many long range shots and bad defense. Lithuania on the other hand , a real east european team, plays much better bball. The game against australia can`t be taken seriously since they were first whatever the result. They are better than that , they have to bodies to guard Yao. I can see them winning this.

So for semis we have

Lithuania-Spain
USA - Gr/Ar

Ederson, you watching the Brazil Argentina game?  The ref is calling this game really tight, or else we'd be seeing a much more physical game.  The place is loud though!  Everybody's really into it.  Brazil needs to step up and be more aggressive.

I only watched the second half. I rarely watch the football olympic tournament  but Bra VS Arg is always fun to watch. Judging by the 45 mins i watched (and risking making a completely fool out of myself) i`d say that Argentina won because is clearly better team. I mean look at their roster. Messi, Gago, Riquelme, Mascherano .... Good players and experienced.
On the other hand Brazil has Rony but he looks like a retired  rather than the sensational performer he was 2 years ago. Pato lucks experience , Lucas also (and to be honest i don`t like him).

We could do without the tackles at the end of the game....

I was surprised that trampoline was in the Olympics as well.  I was also surprised that ping pong is an Olympic sport.  What's next, Olympic poker games? ::)
