We're almost done:

C: Horford / Battie / Mourning
PF: Amare / Haslem / Wright
SF: Gay / Webster
SG: Iguodala / Mobley / Ross
PG: Ford / Blake

Let me add, I am absolutely thrilled to come away with Battie / Mourning / Ross this round.  That gives me a lock-down element to my defense.

You did a decent job of patching up those holes. Although Battie and Mourning are coming off of significant injuries which could hurt this club as the season wares on and into the playoffs. Still, Overall, thats a very solid team.

You can't like the health of some of these guys though.

Mourning says he will definitly play again, but nobody knows at what caliber. Age, injuries, he's got a stacked deck against him.

Battie has missed an average of 21 games per year since his rookie season (factoring this past season, without it, he's at around 15 or so). He's coming off of a career defining injury also, so next season he's need to be pretty lucky and extremely patient and hard working to be effective over 82 games.

I really like Mobley and Ross on your squad though.

True, but even if Mourning and Battie miss the entire season and playoffs (which won't happen), I'm still pretty happy with my big men.  A torn rotator cuff isn't the end of the world for Battie, though; he could have played in last season's playoffs had the team wanted to push him.

Yeah, that's probably the only flaw I can find as well.

Perhaps another bench scorer? Right now, only Mobley and Webster (when he's on) are your best/only options. Blake and Haslem can knock down shots, but neither are really offensively skilled.

Yeah, potentially, but it's not a huge priority.  My bench is quite a bit better than what the Celtics put on the floor last year, for instance.  Having two bench players that can create offense for themselves is a luxury that most teams in the "real" NBA don't have.

(Also, it's expected that by the end of the season, Brandan Wright will be a serious scoring option for the bench.)

Get to know my backup shooting guard!

Morris Almond:
-Led D-League in scoring last season, averaging 25.6 pts per contest, and shooting 35% from long range.
-Had a pretty good summer league for the Jazz
-Has a blog!
-Has good size (6-6)
-Plays respectable defense for a wing player in his rookie campaign.

Perkins/Etan Thomas
Nene/Channing Frye
Tuff Juice/Trevor Ariza/Donte Greene
Brandon Roy/Morris Almond
Mike Conley Jr/Antonio Daniels

Thats my 11 man rotation, pretty much my squad minus 1 or 2 more bench warmers.

Solid playoff team.  4-7 range in seeding.  Needs one more top piece (likely at PF) to push the team into the contender category.

P.G.  Jameer Nelson      To be the starting PG and feed the post with mid range shot
Shawn Livingston   To bring some size to the table and deffend bigger guards
S.G.  Mike Dunleavy      To open the floor and guard big guards
Marco Jaric        To open the floor and deffend quicker smaller guards
Bobby Jackson      To bring experience and overall help add deepness to the guards
S.F.  Francisco Garcia   To start the scoring with good defense on quicker players
Bonzi Wells        To stop bigger SFs and bring rebounding and scoring
P.F.  Carlos Boozer      To be one of the stars
Ty Thomas          To help with his athleticism and stamina.
Birdman            To bring Hustle and rebounding for bigger Fowards
C:    Gasol              To be the second star
Za Za              To deffend and bang bigger centers
Blunt              To be the mascot.....hes tradable.

put this somewhere else but this is the right place i think
Almost done too...

I like the chance you took on Livingston once you made sure you had insurance with Jaric and Jackson.

  • The good ole days.
PG:  Jose Calderon (26) / Keyon Dooling (28)
SG:  Ronnie Brewer (23) / Anthony Parker (33)
SF:  LeBron James (23)  / Nicolas Batum (19)
PF:  Amir Johnson (21)  / Reggie Evans (28)
C:   Andris Biedrins (22) / Javale McGee (20)

Average age: 24.5ish

This is a team of the future that is competitive enough now to keep LeBron around... not that he has a choice, seeing as how I tied him up with a 10 year, $80 million deal.  What can I say... he wanted to make sure I could resign Johnson, Brewer, Batum, and still be a player in the Chris Bosh sweepstakes in a couple years.  What a guy.

You have the one guy you have to keep (Paul)

He will make your team look better then it is.  You will be able to sell your other player high to get him the help he needs.

Take Paul off (replace with another 1st/2nd rounder outside the top 10), worst team in the NBA.

C: Brendan Haywood / Kurt Thomas (he will be great against the Duncans of the NBA)
PF: Chris Wilcox / Ronny Turiaf (to beastly guys who will bang bodies all night)
Carmelo can also play at PF.
SF: Carmelo Anthony / Shane Battier
SG: Ron Artest / Andres Nocioni / CJ Miles  (Artest can be a mismatch physically and still guard top players here)
PG: Rafer Alston / Jannero Pargo (probably play 60/40 in terms of minutes especially if Alston starts jacking up shots)

I feel one of my best defensive lineups without sacrificing offense would be

C: Kurt Thomas
PF: Carmelo Anthony
SF: Shane Battier
SG: Ron Artest
PG: Either can play the passing lanes as Battier is one of the top help defenders.  Nocioni is no slouch on defense too, draws lots of offensive fouls.

The thing about Roy's backup Centers, while they're both injury prone, he really only needs one of them to be healthy, with both Amare and Horford able to play Center and playing big minutes, the 3rd string center isn't going to see much action anyways.  Also with 2 older, injury prone centers, they wouldn't really be forced to overly exert themselves, as neither would have to play every day, it would probably help the chances of them staying healthy for a whole season.  Mourning plays 20 minutes one night of a back to back, you don't need to wear him out playing the next night too, you can just use him for spot minutes or play Battie, so there will probably be a few DNP-CD's for both Mourning and Battie.  I think older veterans are ok not playing everyday, and there's also alot of mentoring available for his young bigs.  Also if one does get injured, as long as the other is still healthy he's still got everything he needs.

Unless of course I'm gonna meet Roy's team in the Finals, then I think both Battie and Mourning will be done for the season before the regular season even starts.

Unless of course I'm gonna meet Roy's team in the Finals, then I think both Battie and Mourning will be done for the season before the regular season even starts.  It was an unfortunate day outside the Blazers practive facility up atop the Cascade Mountains.  Veteran Center Tony Battie who broke his leg in 3 places while participating in ordinary layup drills, was being carried to the nearby hospital by teammate Alonzo Mourning.  Mourning, in remissions for kidney failure, took a turn for the worse when his kidneys gave out on top of the narrow mountain path that led to the hospital.  Both plummeted to their untimely death.  GM Roy Hobbs who chose the practice facility was unavailable for comment.  Captain Amare Stoudemire's would only say "I'm just glad they didn't land on my new car, it got new rims and everything."

I do agree with your first paragraph.
