I have to say I trust every pick that Danny makes now - and I have a feeling we just got two sleeper picks.  These guys were lotto picks that fell because of injuries and "character issues".  Either way watching these videos got me amped (good tunes as well).  Wish we could have seen them in summer league.  To be honest they both look NBA ready to me, especially Walker - he is a beast

JR Giddens
Senior year

Freshman year - seems he was pretty good then too

Wow, them dudes can flat out ball. Either one of them could be the ticket we need to get back to the dunk contest after last year's disappointing absence.

I personally see a very competitive camp for the 2 and 3 positions as TA has yet to solidify his status as a consistently competent 8 man rotation guy (even though he received a vote of confidence from Ainge with a 2 yr deal).  Not to mention, TA and RA are both in the dimunitive side when matching up with many of the league's 3s.  I anticipate Giddens, given his positive outlook (recent article talked about how he never stopped smiling) and defensive ability (quipping that his signature move will be the defensive slide) suiting up throughout the season and competing for minutes at the 3.  While some might note he isn't much bigger than TA, Giddens slashing approach, penchant for rebounding, and apparently physical style should enable him to be a factor there.

Walker will probably spend the first half of the year in the D-League or even the whole year in Europe. Either way, I think many will continue to follow him not only because of his promise and personality (appearing to be genuinely excited and motivated to be a Boston Celtic) but also because he will dominate regardless of where he goes.  While some aspects of his game need work, reports suggest that he could score in double figures on a poor NBA team.  The obvious caveat is that the C's are no longer a poor NBA team, postponing Walker's official introduction to the Gawden til he demonstrates a well-rounded game.  Nonetheless there are several reasons to be excited about Walker that don't include the dunk contest as he has produced at the highest levels of competition, displaying a fire and tenacity on both sides of the court and providing glimpses of being a complete, All-star 3 man. see last year's game v. USC.

Both Walker and Giddens remind me of Pierce. Would like Walker to improve his shooting; but Giddens appears to have the complete game. Walker played some PF in college so has plenty of toughness and length  (reach) to play larger SF's.

Some of those moves by Walker reminded me of Shawn Kemp.

I havent' seen any footage other than these YouTube links people provide which are great but all hgihlights of course.

Does anyone know where you could buy DVD's or copies certain games of Kansas or New Mexico from last year?

Normally I go to Vegas every summer and you can get a feel for the kids but I have never see either of these two kids play....

Pls advise if you know, thanks.

JR Giddens is a 6'5 with a 6'11 wingspan who can play bigger than he is! Hem should play backup 3 right away

I think he's more NBA ready than Bill Wlaker is!

Bill Wlaker has more potential but I think but he will have trouble guarding perimeter players right away so they'll send him to the D-league. Walker is a little more raw than Giddens is now.

I don't get why these 2 rookies aren't signed yet.  The #30 pick stands to get around $800,000 and a second round pick is probably in the #500,000 range.  DA could use this money and one or two of the roster spots on a veteran FA.  I know Walker could go to Europe but still stay a Celtics property but what can happen with a first round pick?  It just doesn't make sense that DA would be holding off on signing them unless he is keeping options open but what are the options that he is keeping open?

Ainge is maintaining flexibility by not signing either. Right now, he can send their rights to another team with no salary implications OR he could sign them for the exact amount to make a deal work.

Love these guys, I'm feeling giddy about them in green  ;D

In Giddens' first video, the 2 plays at the end (6:15 and 6:20)-looks like he'll fit right in with KG lol
Anything is possible!!!

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
JR Giddens is going to be a solid NBA player. I see him as a great defender who is extremely fast and can get out on the break, as well as hit open jumpers.

Bill Walker on the other hand IMO is going to be an absolute star. Drop step post moves from a 3 where he finishes with a jam on a guy. He is looking to finish everything at the rim, with a dunk.

In the future I see us playing an uptempo style with Rondo racking up like 10 assists a game with a bunch coming from alleys to these guys and TA.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

A practice line up of TA, Giddens, Walker, BBD and Powe should be pretty energetic and entertaining.

If one were to design a prototype NBA SG and SF, Giddens and Walker would fit the bill.  Whether they can thrive in the NBA is the big question, of course.  They certainly have the physical tools.

In a perfect world, these guys will grow together in green and be ready to replace PP and RA in a few years, while making strong contributions off the bench until then. With Doc's track record of getting productivity out of BBD and Powe as young players last season, I wouldn't be surprised.
