Again based on the information that was released in the Las Vegas Review can anyone then say with any certainty that Paul Pierce was out partying or for that matter even had a drink.

The Las Vegas local newspaper can't even confirm TMZ.com's story that there was alcohol in his system but below the legal limit. All it is reporting is that he registered below the legal limit. A reading of no alcohol is below the legal limit.

The facts of this incident have not been revealed in their totality and people are making assumptions about what Pierce was doing, how he was driving, how dedicated he is, how arrogant he is, and a myriad of other things.

Maybe we should wait until a reliable news source can confirm information before releasing it before we jump to conclusions that could have no merit whatsoever.

Pierce arrived at N9NE Steakhouse about 9 p.m. with a date and another couple.

Their dinner included a $700 bottle of Melbury Bond cabernet and a visit from some Playboy Bunnies in costume.

Pierce, the most valuable player in the 2008 NBA Finals and a Las Vegas resident in the off-season, passed a field sobriety tests, including a Breathalyzer, after driving erratically on the Strip.

He was stopped near Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, according to the police report.

During their two-hour dinner, the female companion of Pierce's buddy tossed a shrimp at the 6-foot-7 former Kansas star. Pierce's galpal scolded her, saying, “What’s wrong with you? Little girls do that."

Well, I guess in fairness to the over-reactors, there's a lot he could have done between 9:00pm and 3:00am.  There's still room for people to make up all kinds of facts to fill those six hours. 

Still, though, at least this report makes it sound like Pierce was acting perfectly responsible (and somehow managed to avoid serious injury from the flying shrimp).

The problem with this thread is that everyone is making assumptions to "support" their opinion/argument. A glass of wine at dinner, you say? I'm pretty sure that a bottle of wine contains more than a single glass (I'd hope so for $700). I'm not trying to suggest that he drank the whole bottle himself, but to declare that he only had a single glass of wine is just as much an unfounded assumption as it would be to conjecture that he drank the whole bottle (based on the "facts" presented in the report).

However, if we're working with impressions, then it's just as reasonable to infer from the original report (handcuffs and getting a cab ride), that something was amiss (i.e., Pierce was, on some level, less than responsible). boy you don't suppose he shared it among the four people at dinner do you?
also, he apperntly controlled himself enough that he passed soberity tests and a breathlyzier, so he couldnt have gone that wild on the bottle.

also, you can't have your cake and eat it too, the people who overreacted were told they should probley wait for more facts, yet on they wen't. the smarter move would have been to wait before ranting about the worst.

Fair enough, but then my theory still stands as well because he could just as likely not had a drink from the bottle at all.

But to take a look at the total spectrum, there was one bottle of wine. I hate to burst anyone's bubble here but $700 bottles of wine don't come in the half gallon variety. At most you will get about 4 maybe 5 glasses moderately filled.

So we have to assume he either:

1.) had none and let the rest of the table enjoy
2.) had the whole bottle by himself even though he was with 3 other people
3.) somewhere in between with a good guess being they might have shared the bottle between the 4 of them and had a glass each.

No matter what way you look at it, option 2 looks pretty unlikely considering it would portray our captain as a gluttonous, selfish pig, which all other indications learned about the man over the last 10 years don't indicate.

So what is it? Did he have a glass of wine or none at all or did he drink the whole bottle, ditched his friends thereafter, and went on a drinking binge which caused the Las Vegas PD to then initiate a massive cover up after pulling him over dead drunk?

The rest of the facts that have been confirmed by accurate news sources say that he either had a glass or none.

  I'm thinking the easiest way to resolve this is to name Scal the official Boston Celtics designated driver. A bargain at practically any price (under $3M per year).
