The Las Vegas Lakers open the 13th round with the selection of Carlos Delfino.

If you can convince him to come back to the states, you've got a nice player there.

The Las Vegas Lakers open the 13th round with the selection of Carlos Delfino.

If you can convince him to come back to the states, you've got a nice player there.

He recently called his friend and former team mate Chris Bosh to tell him that he'd made a grave mistake in moving to Russia.

Chris and myself spoke about how Carlos would fit into this team and about possible loopholes in his contract. After a few days of dead-ends, we were told that a work permit would be rejected and that the three year deal he signed was effectively worthless.

Fortunately, we were his first choice.

We're waiting to hear back from the commissioner, but we're confident that he's our player.

Are you paying him 30 million over 3 years too?

Undisclosed.

Furthermore, luckily, our draft doesn't deal with salaries.

I gave a good reason for Delfino. The other GM didn't. Not to mention the new opt out of your contract law put in place by the EU for foreigners in Russia because of Russia's invasion of Georgia.

Like I said, I'm confident the commissioner will approve of the signing.

Im confident i will start signing college players if this goes through.  They are also players that arent eligible for the NBA, i see no difference.

I'm confident that if you try that, you will fall flat on your face because legally, you can't do that.

If you see no difference, do your homework and don't expect other people to have to correct you.

If this goes through I will do my best to trade all my best players into your division for little to nothing in return.

It's reasons like that we have a commish with veto power in place.

Exactly.

Why would trading to my division matter? Does it look like I'm building a team to win this season? Seriously...

No it doesnt look like your building for this year cause your team isnt that great, but it does look like you are going against an earlier ruled upon decision by the commissioner.  And since it was previously decided upon i vote that you are stuck with him.  He cant play this year and you effectively lose the pick.

The Commissioner won't be back until Friday.  In the interim, I think the general understanding -- and in fact, the rule that was eventually put into place (or, remained in place) was that players under foreign contract aren't eligible to play for our teams this year.

That's why, when wdleehi took Childress, he made it clear that he was a future asset, rather than a current one.

That being said, folks are getting a little too worked up about a 13th rounder.
