Sorry... pick isn't late due to lack of caring or anything, was at a lunch celebrating with some coworkers.  Didn't send wdleehi a list this time because I really have no clue who I'm looking at.

Pick to come in a few...

yeah... now that i think about it, this late, you might as well wait be late a few picks (or even a dozen) and get the best fit/guy...

Come on, you've got your board already to go. Admit it. I have mine ready.

Darn... you're right.. got me  8)

Now it's just a matter of figuring out which sleepers (who i've had tagged since day 1...) to pick in which order. :D

Honestly do you not like him as a player, are you playing devil's advocate or are you taking shots at him because he's a on a team that will challenge you in the playoffs?

All three. ;)

In all seriousness, I think Kirilenko is a good role player who thinks he's a star.  Others seem to buy into that, making him vastly overrated.  He's one of the most overpaid players in the NBA, and his crying and public comments didn't sit well with me.  I also wasn't overly impressed when Deron questioned his work ethic (without naming him by name, it was certainly clear who he was talking about).  He just doesn't seem to enjoy playing.  Maybe that's because of Sloan.  Maybe it's something else.  Either way, I wish he'd shut up, commit to getting better, and play.

I'd like AK47 more if he was willing to accept his role, and if he was reasonably paid (not a consideration in this game, of course).  He's a good defender and passer, and has a good (if inconsistent) jump shot.  It's all the other stuff that bothers me, though.

He is not mentally weak, he plays in a system that is not meant to suit him, by a coach that by all accounts is a hard @$$.

Quote
Forward Andrei Kirilenko used a towel to wipe tears from his red and swollen eyes Sunday while discussing his minimal role in the Jazz's 84-75 loss to the Rockets in Game 1.

Mentally weak.
You're mentally weak. He just cares too much ;-). Don't worry he won't have to worry about a lack of playing time, his only worry will be the tough decision of which Blazer he wants to posterize.

Presumably, it will be be whichever of my guys is playing in garbage time, up by 40.

We are, however, quaking about AK47's 11 ppg and 4 rebounds.  Oh, yes, and his crying, complaining to the media, and lack of work ethic.
He complained to the media because he wanted to be traded from a system that doesn't fit him. They kept him anyway because he's a good basketball player.
He is a defensive stopper, and a slasher who is great off of steals and fast breaks. His last two seasons weren't that good because he wasn't in a comfortable environment. He's more likely a 15 point a game scorer, who will give you around 7 rebounds a game, with 4 assists, 1.5 steals and 2 blocks. He does it all.
Honestly do you not like him as a player, are you playing devil's advocate or are you taking shots at him because he's a on a team that will challenge you in the playoffs?
Honestly I would love to see him on the Celtics, once his contract is up if we could get him for around 8 mill a year once Ray is gone.

Whoa now. They kept him because offers were mostly for more money and lesser or angrier players, because any GM acquiring AK knew he was A) Unhappy, and B) Currently unproductive.

Also, he's not much of a shooter. He's a lot like Shawn Marion, but I don't think he's as talented.

The Minnesota Timberwolves select the player taken right after Weaver in the recent draft, who I had already written out an entire post about the selection before changing my mind, with explosive athleticism on the perimeter.... and one of the best names in the league... Sonny Weems.

i'm giving big ticket the award for most unpredictable picks in the draft.

it all started with amir johnson being drafted where he was to this out-of-the-blue sonny weems pick.

and to think, he's still managed to build a solid roster. well done bt.

Utah Jazz owner Larry Miller's quotes about AK47:

Quote
(Kirilenko) actually told me one time that his job is to go stand in the corner on the weakside ... outside the 3-point shot line, wait until the shot's up and run back down the court — not to go back inside and try to rebound. Now take a look at me: Do I have stupid written on my forehead?"

• "Maybe there's a translation problem here. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, because I like him, and I think basically he's an honest guy. ... But some of the stuff that's coming out of his mouth reflects at least severe frustration, and maybe brain fade."

• "He's an 'all-the-money' player. Well, I look at the all-the-money players, and I see most of them playing every night. And I don't see him playing every night.

• "If he doesn't like it, I'm sorry, and I'll put my arm around him and tell him that I still love him. But he needs to grow up ... and I just hope he will."

Deron Williams on Kirilenko:

Quote
You see guys, you see Booz (Carlos Boozer) after practice shooting for 25-30 minutes, you see Memo (Mehmet Okur) shooting for 20 minutes, you see all the rookies, the young guys, you see Hafa (Rafael Araujo) in there working, and you see Andrei being the first guy out the door," Williams said. "He's coming off a screen on one side, and Matt Harpring's coming off a screen on one side, who do you think you're gonna pass to? You think you're gonna pass to the guy you see working every day in the gym? Or you gonna pass to the guy who never works on his shot but wants to shoot ... "

Jerry Sloan's take:

Quote
"I thought his shot selection was terrible," Sloan said. "He's got to get more focused on what we're doing with our team -- not just what he does.

Quote
"If he's not going to try to do what we want to do -- with all the guys, it doesn't make any difference -- I've got to start sitting guys down," Sloan said after the Jazz fell to 2-4 with one preseason game remaining, Friday night's vs. Denver at the Delta Center.

"When it comes down to it, I can lose just as easily with guys playing hard. Some of these young kids out here -- they're playing hard," added Sloan, who got a team-high 16 points from first-round draft choice Deron Williams and 13 more from free-agent University of Houston product Andre Owens. "If we're going to lose the way those guys are playing, I can live with it."

Quote
"You don't get yourself better by playing at half-speed," Sloan said when asked about Kirilenko's play. "I don't care how many years you've played in this league, you have to come out and get yourself going, so you get into a good rhythm and you don't get hurt.

;)

Sounds to me like a guy who want to hold out but still get paid because he hates his team. Sloan is well known as a jerk. He just needs a fresh start, he clearly hates his team and they hate him. The first comment made by the owner I think can be taken as an example of them not running a good offense for him.
On a side note what kind of classless organization makes all those comments about their own player? if the general consensus of the team, coaches and management is this bad why not trade him for whatever you can get? Do they think it will up his trade value to bash him like that? I understand those comments look very bad but it says something about the guys saying them not just they guy they are talking about.
Be rest assured that now with a classy organization like the Warriors we will nurture, and support him, put him in the right position to succeed.
I tip my hat to you for getting all those quotes and proving your argument but doesn't skill win out in the end. He is one of the best all around players in the league and the only other player besides Hakeem the Dream to have more than one career 5x5 (achieving 5 or more in 5 different statistical categories). He has the ability to be near the top of the league in blocks and steals, rebounds decently and can score pretty well. What's not to like? (besides all the items you previously mentioned)?
