Why when a trade takes place is it edited to appear as if the team, that brought in the player via trade, drafted for his rights?

People are still down on the Nets, huh?  I think they're the favorite in the East (and that's not just because I live in the Garden State).

Out West, I haven't really looked yet.  I still like Houston, the Warriors look good, the Mavs aren't bad...  there's a team south of Seattle which could be halfway decent.

Favorites in the East huh?

Roy doesn't want to give me any credit  ;D

Here's how my Pistons match up against the Nets:

Yao Ming vs David West        edge: Pistons
Emeka Okafor vs Mehmet Okur   edge: Pistons
Hedo Turkoglu vs Paul Pierce  edge: Nets
Ben Gordon vs Corey Maggette  edge: Pistons
Earl Watson vs Jason Kidd     edge: Nets

I have the starting lineuo edge, plus my team is younger at every position.

Jason Terry vs Derek Fisher  edge: Pistons
Carl Landry vs Drew Gooden   edge: Nets
Jerry Stackhouse vs Matt Carrol edge: Push
Roy Hibbert vs Joel Przybilla  edge: Nets
Kyle Lowry vs ???             edge: Pistons (there isn't any value out there as good as Lowry)

I say I have the better, younger team and I'll finish higher in the East. I see the Nets coming in 4th behind Detroit, NY, and Orlando

I see it more like:

Yao Ming vs Mehmet Okur       edge: Pistons
Emeka Okafor vs David West    edge: Nets
Hedo Turkoglu vs Paul Pierce  edge: Nets
Ben Gordon vs Corey Maggette  edge: Nets
Earl Watson vs Jason Kidd     edge: Nets

Bench:  Push

Why play Okur / West out of position?  Also, Maggette is better than Gordon in my book.  Regardless, though, a team is better than just being a sum of its parts; I like how all of the Nets players fit together.

(Also, you forgot Mo Pete in your analysis of the Nets' bench.  He's better than either Stackhouse or Lowry.)

Preliminarily, I'd put you second or third in the East.  I just like the Nets team, as all of the pieces seem to compliment one another fairly well.  I'd put them slightly above your squad.

Corey Maggette beats out Ben Gordon head to head. Gordons more of an off the bench combo guard, too small to be a 2 although skilled for it.  You need to sure up your backcourt.

I like your team and although I think that trade should have been vetoed (severely undervalued the impact of Ming), you still pounded the phones and earned it. The Nets just have a few less holes.

I'm glad the trade wasn't vetoed.  I think people should be allowed to make trades unless they're off-the-wall crazy.  I think it allows some separation in terms of evaluating the various GMs.

I still like the Knicks best in the east followed by the Nets, Magic and Pistons.

This looks like the 2nd best team KG has ever had (2nd only to this years Boston)  They just need a little experience at the 4/5 off the bench.

Bench Push- Posey is great but the knicks cant much up against curry or augustin

Augustin-Posey
Jared Dudley-  Robin Lopez
Sean Williams- Brent Barry

Quote

You have one good player and its marion.  He is also a scumbag and an aweful lockerroom guy.  Stuckey is young and there is no reason to believe he is ready to start at the two guard in this league.  Kirelenko is coming off two aweful years.  There is a reason he dropped so far.  And Blatche?? are you being serious?

First of all, I am being serious. Your critique on Marion is fair, but I strongly believe that the reason he has been prone to being somewhat of a, as you strongly put it, "Scumbag", is that it is difficult for him to accept that he was the third option on the Suns. It can be a jarring thing for an athlete when they find out they are not as valued in a system as they think themselves to be. Am I expecting him to be a locker room leader? No, I expect him to not care as long as he gets his touches and the offense is geared towards his style of play, which it will be.

You bring up a great point in  Kirilenko's numbers going down over the past two years. I think he is in a very similar situation to Marion, only more dramatic. He went from being the Jazz's number one option to their 4th over the course of a season. That has to mess with one's confidence and passion. So again, I think the change of scenery would do wonderful for Andrei.

I believe Stuckey is ready to start as a two guard in this league. He has no physical deficits to make up. He has shown he isn't afraid of the moment, both defensively and offensively. The question mark is his 3-Point shooting. But he is so lethal from mid-range that it's hard for me to believe that someone with his physical abilities can't develop a consistent 3-Point shot. If Rondo's can jump leaps and bounds, why can't Stuckey's get a little better? And yes, I will not let him shoot around with Shawn.

Am I kidding about Blatche, no not really. I think that if Antwan didn't make his game redundant, Blatche would start in Washington. I think he is a physically gifted, 6-11 center who can shoot, has better post moves than is given credit for, and is an above average passer. He is also 21 years old. His stats are comparable to Perk's THIS season  ( Blatche had a higher PPG while Perk grabbed more Boards) when Perk had 4 and a half extra minutes a game. When Perk was 21 he averaged rougly the same numbers as Blatche in Boards and Blocks while scoring 2 points less per game.

An aspect of my team I don't feel is taken into account is it's bench. While I knew players like Bassy and Kwame are not loved on these boards, they're back ups on this team. They're not starting, they're not being asked to be stars, which frankly I think is something both of them could use. Baby brings, and I love saying this, Championship experience to the team as well as leadership for a young team and positivity and charisma that can counter-balance Marion's mood swings. Also, the man can score and is going to evolve into a very good post defender. Villanueva is a fantastic back up PF, again not the star some people might have thought he would be , but a great scoring and athletic back up. JR Smith brings versatility to the bench, capable of playing the 2 and the 3, as well as giving us the 3 ball. CDR, I admit, was a selfish pick. This was the guy I wanted the Celts to take at 30. I think he's going to be a great slasher off the bench and will counter balance JR in a half court set.

The bench kills the Raptors right now.  House, Posey and Barry; all have rings coming off the bench.  And your starting SF is a huge weakness.

Eddie house is good sure, but rings dont make up for stats.  And with Jamison pulling KG outside, I dont see how the knicks can possibly keep up inside.

Barry has a ring but averaged 5 points and 1 rebound in the playoffs
house has a ring, but averaged 2.5 points per game in the playoffs

I would rather have young guys with energy and potential to step up in big games than guys whos best days and RINGS are in their past.

The 2003/2004 Wolves was a better team than that Knicks one. I'd give that Knicks team third however.

Good point and overall I agree.

But, the veto was established early on which set the standard for what will and will not be allowed. That trade for Ming, according to prior rulings, should have been axed in the name of consistency...

At the beginning of all of this I supported a league with vetoes because of trades like this. I changed my mind because of my experience and now I am dead set opposed to a league with vetos

But I digress...

Have a good weekend guys

To be honest, I don't think your going to make the playoffs. Marion is your best player and that's not good enough to make the playoffs, even in the weak east. Just my opinion.

And I thank you for it.

I see your team as an 11-12 seed. Not enough good players or experience.

Listen pal, not all of us can have a front line of Yao and Okafor.  ;)
