Projo said the Dodgers are one of the teams the Red Sox are talking to about Manny. That being said would you do a Matt Kemp for manny swap? Do you think they might incude Andy LaRoche in the deal. That could be an interesting deal. Kemp could very well be that long term piece to replace Manny.

i would do this in a heartbeat, kemp is 24 years old and is going to be a rising star. Manny will be gone after this year anyways, so might as well get something good in return for him.

Manny 2008: .302 19 HR 65 RBI 65 R 1 SB
Kemp 2008:  .293 12 HR 57 RBI 54 R 23 SB

Also, Kemp plays on the dodgers, arguably the worst offensive team, who have scored 92 runs less than our Red Sox. Kemp hitting in our lineup would have more RBI and R. He would be a great addition for the future.

I'd do it i suppose, but only if its straight up or more from the dodgers. I find it hard to belive the dodgers are going to swap a 24 year old power hitter for a 36 year old one without wanting some prospects.

I think a trade with LA would need to start with Broxton, and then have either Kemp or Laroche.  I know it is a lot to ask for, but the sox need to ask for a lot if they are going to not just wait out the year, try to win the world series, and then take the draft picks.

They may. They want to win now and i heard they were dangling Kemp as Bait. Also the Red Sox would pick up the rest (7 mil) of mannys contract.

that 23 SB's is also very nice looking becuase that could add to the speed of the red sox which with jacoby and a few other's is starting to look like the identity of the team in the future.

along with the fact that the dodgers are my NL team that i route for this actually seems acceptable to me. but overall i'm very against trading manny ramirez.

it's tough to see the dodgers doing this for a half season rental unless they are getting Jed Lowrie or some other prospect.

I can't see Kemp coming back in a Manny deal unless LA has Manny locked up longer than until the end of the year. It makes no sense.

Sure Boston can pay as much of the contract as they want but a 36 year old slugger for a 24 year old slugger when the team with the 36 year old is practically begging teams to take him off their hands.

No. No way.

Boston propects would also have to be going in that direction and honestly if it meant giving up a Masterson, I'd do it. Granted the kid is still rather unproven and he has struck out a ton this year, but he is 24, still in your control for 4 more years at dirt cheap money, is a least as good an outfielder as Manny if not better, and fits into the Manny hole perfectly.

I'd like to see Kemp and Kershaw for Manny. We pick up the rest of Manny's contract (for this year). They work out a long term deal with him.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Why not?  Manny could be the difference between them making the playoffs...or even the World Series, and having a very disapointing season.  They need the offensive production he would give.

And they would then be able to get the two draft picks at the end of the year, if they decide to let him walk.

If I were one of these teams fighting for the postseason, I would absolutely be lining up for Manny.  He would be free for the rest of the season, then you have the option to pick up next year or not...and he would immediately be the best hitter on just about any team he was traded to.

I think a lot of people are forgetting just how good Manny is.  Everyone says he is slowing down, but he is still one of the top 3-4 right handed hitters in the game, if not top 2 (along with Pujols).

Agreed.  If they trade Manny now, they will be saying they don't care about winning this year.  Aint gonna happen.  A NL hitter might take over a month or more to get adjusted to AL pitching. Not good enough.

to be fair, hes not hitting all that much better than this kid, and he'd be a huge laiblity in leftfield.

i'm not saying there not talking about it, i just don't see the dodgers doing it stright up.

Maybe I'm overvaluing Kemp.  I'm just basing it off stats, at his age on that team... and it seems like he's going to be a star.  If I was LA I wouldn't do it straight up.

But if they did do that trade then it would have to be a seperate trade involving Dunn or someone of that nature, possibly for coco and a prospect.  Because if you just trade Manny for a young player you are definatly worse this year so it would be contingent on getting a bat elsewhere.
