LAS VEGAS, NV – The NBA is back in Las Vegas, and it’s not the All-Star game, it’s the storied franchise formerly known as the Los Angeles Lakers, which will now grace Sin City. In a move that shocked the world, former Hornets GM celticmaestro was hired as the new Lakers GM and moved the franchise to Las Vegas. The people of New Orleans are said to be heartbroken, along with former MVP guard Steve Nash and new coach Avery Johnson. Said Nash “I’m upset, of course I am, maestro is a great man and I understand his decision. This team was in a sorry state and it was up to him to pick up the pieces. He’s laid the foundations down for us now we need to continue that” Johnson was not available for comment.
Maestro is “delighted” to have the opportunity to work with the Lakers franchise; he said, “I’m delighted to be here. What went on before me is history; the only thing left for this great ball club now is to look to the future. We’ve got an outstanding young core that we will continue to build around and we hope to make some more noise in the coming days.”
In another groundbreaking move, the Lakers hope to announce the Player-Coach appointment of NBA veteran and three-time champion Sam Cassell. Said maestro, “we’re pretty far from a deal, we hope a few things fall our way in the near future, and if it does we’ll be delighted to have Sam on board.” When asked if the firing of Phil Jackson was for personal reasons, maestro said, “Yes, we didn’t get along. He’s used to winning only when he has the best player in the NBA and when we told him we’re re-building he said he didn’t want that so we decided we didn’t want him.”
The Las Vegas Lakers will play their basketball at the new state-of-the-art arena built in the south end of The Strip, the House of Pain. Season tickets are said to be selling like hot cakes.
