According to an LA based sport site, Danny has been calling the Lakers about Ariza. I have no idea if the source is credible or not, but thought I should throw it out to see if this had been heard anywhere else.

I for one think he would be a great fit, don't have any idea what we would have to give up to get him, maybe some combo of BBD or Powe and Scal??

FYI Scals salary is almost an exact match to Ariza's but outside of that we'd have to trade a combination of players and probably involve draft picks and the million dollar trade exception.

…Rumors are flying the Lakers are trying to clear roster space to make a major trade, either to acquire Rasheed Wallace of Detroit or Ron Artest from Sacramento in a swap that would send Lamar Odom out of town.

…The LA Lakers have till midnite tonite to decide on matching a 4-year-17 million dollar deal to keep Ronnie Turiaf from going to Golden State.

…The Boston Celtics have approached the Lakers about a deal for young backup forward Trevor Ariza.

…Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic has fired his agent Bill Duffy, and hired Rob Pelinka, Kobe Bryant's rep. Sasha has had no free-agent offers.

…The Clippers have signed Golden State swingman Kalenna Azubuike, who averaged 8-points-4 rebounds a game last year.

…The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Dallas Mavs forward Malik Allen.

…The Boston Celtics, who lost James Posey, are talking to free agents Maurice Evans of Orlando, Matt Barnes of Golden State, and Ryan Gomes of Minnesota.

…The Phoenix Suns are bringing in Miami Heat guard Jason Williams for a physical; he averaged 13-a-game last year in the final month of the season after missing the year with knee issues. The Suns are also looking for ex-Clilppers lst round pick Sean Livingston, who has been out 2-years after a horrible knee injury

…Utah is taking star guard Deron Williams off the free-agent market, signing him to a 4-year extension.

Thank you budweiser, TP for you, I just couldn't remember where I had seen it and all the painkillers I am on make it difficult at best on the memory sometimes.

Scal, Pruitt and 2nd rounder for Ariza?

Then we can throw the MLE at Delonte to be our 6th man and complete the roster.

In the interest of roster balance, I'd send Big Baby and Scal to L.A. for Ariza and a second rounder, if I could get it. Otherwise, just Baby and Scal for Ariza.

Why would you trade Powe for a worse player?

Good Question.

If we traded away Powe we'd just create another hole at back-up PF.

On the flip-side I don't think Powe is that much better than Ariza.

They might take Powe and he's from Cali.  I think he and BBD are equal players with Powe (being slightly more experienced) being the more consistent version, but I think BBD's celing is higher.

The salaries match up poorly.  A sign and trade for Tony Allen?
