Sounds like an arena football team name.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

thunder, thunder, thunder, thundercats ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i wonder who is gona be the mascot

They need to make the mascot this guy

Or Panthro would be pretty cool for a mascot too (he was always my favorite)

Or if they made their colors black and red and their logo look like this, how cool would that be

And the cheerleaders could all dress like this

I'm having way too much fun thinking about this.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I think any name following Oklahoma City is going to sound like an arena football team.

They should have named them the Oklahoma City Outlaws

and had the mascot be a Yosemite Sam looking cowboy with a big mustache that waves around pistols and starts fights with other mascots

They blew it

This name is only slightly worse than:

Oklahoma City Corn Holes
Oklahoma City Fart Boxes
Oklahoma City Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. Bags
&
Oklahoma City Thunder Thighs

The OKC THunder is a terrible name.

At least name them after something that OKC can be proud of like the OKC Flaming Lips.  Wayne Coyne could be the mascot and crowd surf in a giant bubble during games like he does in concert.

I don't know if OKC Thunder will ever sound right to me or anyone else for that matter. But I could be wrong.

Miami Heat is a solid name that doesn't end in an "s", although I share the same preference myself.

Oklahoma City Thunder .... jeez it's a mouthful isn't it? That's the real problem.

I thought they were going away from names that showed the region in bad light. Like hurricanes and the sort, is Thunder really a step up?

Orlando Magic is ok.  New Orleans Jazz was cool too before they moved to Utah.  Why did they even keep that their nickname?  Which is worse, that or the Lakers?

Or a AAA Baseball team
