Hoopshype says:

The Boston Celtics offered up a James Posey sign-and-trade to land Artest, but obviously that's not going to happen. As HoopsWorld's Jessica Camerato broke earlier today, Posey is now a New Orleans Hornet. HoopsWorld

Wow, please Danny, DO NOT GET RON-RON...

I have no  desire to have that walking black eye on our team...

I don't care what he brings talent wise, he is not worth it.

Hopefully without posey there is no threat of this...

Lost the chance to do that.

I am quite happy this did not happen.

I don't believe it.

1) It makes no sense at all.  Why would Sacramento want Posey?  Why would Posey want to go to Sacramento?

2) It comes from Bill Ingram of Hoopsworld, who broke such stories as "Posey to resign in Boston within 24 hours" and "Maggette to sign in San Antonio".

Artest would be a tremendous fit in Boston, but only if you thought you could extend him, not as a one-year wonder.

I expect that the Lamar Odom for Artest and Kenny Thomas proposal will eventually go through. But I would have no problem offering Ray Allen for Artest and Kenny Thomas, so long as Sacramento also threw in an unprotected 2009 first rounder.

The problem with Artest is not his defense which is first rate at times, but his offense, where -- if you have not noticed you should -- he is one of the biggest ball hogs in the league.  He also has the Antoine Walker disease where he shoots an awful lot of 3s for someone who is not particularly good at making them.

He already almost singlehandedly killed a championship caliber team ... I do not doubt his power to do it a second time.

I totally agree.  Artest also has no interest in following the called play.  When he feels like he should shoot, he does.  I think he'd be a horrible fit.

How is it that this guy has a job?  He is very creative, that is for sure, but WOW!  I am flabbergasted at the stuff this guy writes.

Added: If this were the financial markets Bill Ingram would be in jail.  Seriously.

I wouldn't be shocked if Danny targets some "ubuntu killers."  On a championship, veteran squad, you can often get away with things like that, especially when you have personification of team and intensity leading you in Kevin Garnett.  The Bulls did it with Rodman and the Patriots with Moss and Dillon.  Plus, Danny's already showed signs of going that way: he drafted Giddens who had a shaky past and he's been scouting Darius Miles of the Jailblazers.

i remember seeing it misspelled on the main page too.

I agree that Danny might take a few chances...and I am ok with that...

but Rodman, as crazy as he was, never attacked the fans.

moss and dillion were diffrent, they were malcontents because thier teams were horrid, but they eventually grew out of it, adn even at thier worst, they only disrupted with thier mouths.

ron artest punched a man in the face, and during his time off, said it didn't matter to him that he was suspended, since he uses basketball as a way to fund his other projects (like his rap label) why would he have any drive to fit in like moss and dillion had?

Since Artest is only signed for one year I'd say it would be worth the risk. He'd be a good replacement for Posey without risking the financial flexibility four years down the road. Isn't that what everybody wanted? They could try Scalabrine + S&T Allen for Artest as the baseline for a deal.
