...are C's fans going to be happy with Stephon Marbury and Darius Miles?

It appears that Tyrone Lue will be joining the Suns so he's out of the picture.

Who else is left?

I for one think getting Marbury and Miles would be downgrades not just in terms of production but also team chemistry. I will admit that both Marbury and Miles are more talented than the other two but they do not fit as well and it will ultimately spell trouble for the C's (which may or may not be overcome next year).

Arroyo and Barnes.
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I don't think we'll sign Miles or Marbury.  Danny isn't a moron; he understands the need for proven talent, and in the past he's tried to purge the locker room of chemistry issues.  He would bring in replacements that fit that mold.

Darius Miles is not walking through that door, fans. Stephon Marbury is not walking through that door, and Tyronne Lue is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're going to be terrible and distractions. What we are is experienced, exciting, hard-working, and we're going to improve. People don't realize that, and as soon as they realize those three guys are not coming through that door, the better this town will be for all of us because there are young guys in that lockerroom playing their asses off. I wish we had $90 million under the salary cap. I wish we could buy the world. We can't; the only thing we can do is work hard, and all the negativity that's in this town sucks. I've been around when Jim Rice was booed. I've been around when Yastrzemski was booed. And it stinks. It makes the greatest town, greatest city in the world, lousy. The only thing that will turn this around is being upbeat and positive like we are in that locker room... and if you think I'm going to succumb to negativity, you're wrong. You've got the wrong guy leading this team.

Arroyo and Barnes.

It looks like the C's are holding to the one-year back up PG at the vet's min. strategy.

Arroyo can get a better deal elsewhere. But I'd love to have him over Marbury any day of the week. I just don't think it can get done.

Barnes is another solid player who I would love to have on the team but he will probably resign with the Warriors and if we're not going to give 4 years to Posey we surely aren't going to give a 2 year deal to Barnes at the max MLE. He will find a better deal elsewhere as well with MORE playing time.

The reason I list Marbury and Miles is because these guys are guys who have something to prove and will probably take considerably less money to play here. One guy is a career malcontent - where ever he goes the team just loses. The other hasn't played NBA minutes in like 5 years....is he done? Who knows.

Both wouldn't be hard to sign and that's probably why I came up with them in the first place.

Arroyo, Nachbar and Ross

I don't see Arroyo and Nachbar playing a lick of defense. Both are good at what they do though and if we pay them for that then I guess we would be content with it.

Ross I would love to have because he seems to be in the same ilk as Posey. A role-player, a specialist who understands his job and doesn't complain about minutes. He shouldn't be hard to sign either so my question is why haven't we? Have we even offered a contract to his camp?

While I think that Danny prefers good locker room guys, ubunut or not, I wouldn't be shocked to see him role the dice on a Miles or Marbury type.  When you have a solid veteran leadership group coming off a title and you're talking about risks with minimum contracts, you can afford to gamble like that.  The Bulls did it with Rodman and the Pats did it with Moss, and look how that worked out.

That said, I still prefer Posey to Miles and probably a handful of guys to Marbury; however, I wouldn't be shocked if Danny rolled the dice on one guy like Marbury or Miles.

i wouldn't mind marbury if he shuts his mouth and plays hard..he has a lot of talent.  miles had a "career ending injury"-we should stay away from him.

I know i will be accused of patriotism. I know he must be drafted first, but c`mon let me dream. Actual Brazil international pg is Marcelo Huertas, currently playing the pre-olympic in Greece. And he is very, very good. Was named the best pg in the Spanish league this year, both by public and specialists. He is very good in decision makings, it`s fast (not Rondo`s fast, but fast :)), a pass first guard, has low turnovers ratio, goes fiercely to the basket, and is still very young (i guess he`s 23 years old).

I'd be one ticked off Celtics fan if we lose both House and Posey, especially Posey.

Great stuff - TP for you!

I might actually prefer Barnes over Posey for a couple of reasons:

1. $3 million for 2 seasons vs. $5 million for 3+

2. If we get Posey back, he is the #1 reserve, backing up the 2, 3, and 4. That means no development for Giddens, Walker, Powe, or Davis.

3. This might be blasphemy on these boards, but I was not a huge fan of the hug. I do not think Pierce or Ray loved it either, and Rondo always looked terrified...

Well, since the premise is losing both Posey and House, then I think the PG will get MORE than a vet min contract, and obviously, the Posey replacement will get less than MLE.

If no Posey or House, I like Matt Barnes and Arroyo or Lue.  Still think that we bring on another backup C at some point too.
