If we get Marbury and Darius Miles, I think I'll first throw up, and second, just hope and pray that they never get off the bench.

I might actually prefer Barnes over Posey for a couple of reasons:

Carlos Delfino?  :)
He would be perfect for us.

If we loose out on House & Posey...

The C's will not pick up Marbury, Miles.

The C's should target Keyon Dooling (or Arroyo) and Quentin Ross, splitting the MLE for 2 years.

I'm cooling off on the Barns idea. Why do people place him on the top of their free agent wish list? Isn't his game (and size) limited for a dude you'd be willing to give $3 million a year to?

Why is Shaun Livingston not getting any love? He is at the top of my back up PG list. Play Livingston for 10 - 15 mpg, this will greatly reduce his risk for injury. He will get his confidence back. He is low risk, high reward. And if Livingston does not work out we got Pruitt sitting in the back pocket.

because every report you hear about him makes it sound like he is at least another season away from being able to play.

Oh, I never heard anything like that. If that is true then he probably is not a good idea. However, if Livingston could be healthy by the all star break I would still roll the dice on him. He just has too much talent to not offer him a minimum contract in my eyes.

I think House will accept the 20% raise if DA gives it to him (I don't think it will happen though). I don't really believe he's going to get much higher than that on the market, and of course the chemistry with other players plays a part. However, his inability to dribble was blown out of proportion, so I wouldn't know if overpaying teams like GS would want someone like him.

I believe Marbury will not be bought out, and also Miles will not sign unless Posey goes to another team.

Yeah, I'm surprised Danny is only offering the minimum to House - I thought at least his salary from last year ($1.5) is warranted, if not the upgrade to $1.8 mil. If it was me, I'd offer him 2 years, $3.8 mil or maybe 3 years, $4.5-5 mil to get it done and to get good will with Posey (bringing back his buddy and showing a commitment to keep the team together) and Bartelstein (agent for both House and Posey). Then I'd offer Posey 5 years at the non-Bird rate starting at $3.8, or 3 years at MLE minus rookie minimum (so we can sign Walker to a 3 year deal and have Bird rights on him if he blows up, as is distinctly possible). At that point, I'd tell Bartelstein, take both offers or start packing, because we have to move on with free agency.
Go Celtics.

Getting goodwill from Posey?  Are you kidding me?
Every dollar we give to House is a dollar less we are giving to Posey and vice versa.
Posey is holding out for more cash.  Giving his 'buddy' more cash and him LESS cash isn't going to make him more inclined to sign on the dotted line by any means!!

I'm not surprised. The benefit of offering the minimum is that the league will subsidize the contract. That is how we can get the most bang for our buck.

I loved having House on the team, but there are other players who can contribute. Almost no one anticipated the success we had this year, and I don't see how we can assume that this roster was the perfect roster.

All that concerns me is that Danny said he wanted house to have a shooter who could keep things honest to balance Rondo's weakness. You would think that he still wants that.

Maurice Evans from Orlando and trade a future draft pick for Finnish rookie Petteri Koponen from Portland.

Evans can defend and shoot the three.  Koponen is 6'4" only 19 and Portland has to do something with him before a European club locks him up long term for big money

... I would target Maurice Evans and Damon Stoudamire.

Both can hit the three, which is what Posey and House could do.  I think Stoudamire can probably take better care of the ball than House, but plays with less heart and I wonder how much gas he has left in the tank (he is 35).  Evans is undersized for the 3-spot, but I suspect he can play okay defense, especially in a system with TT, KG & co.  I would also look at Q. Ross for a 3rd roster spot, or a lengthy big man who can play good D.

I am not as interested in Barnes as I was -- he is scrappy, which I like, but I think he is a bit of a product of the Nellie system.
Celtics fan for life.

The thing that comforts me is that our starting 5 is coming back - I know, I know Posey played a huge role, I am not down playing his contribution, it's just that I'm very positive about next year even if he doesn't come back... I would love him to, but if he doesn't would be psyched to see what the rookies can do and then whatever player Ainge brings in as well...
Now, on to 18...

Damon Stoudamire is not very good any more.  No need for him.  Evans isn't bad, he could help.  The question is, what players out there want a one year audition for a bigger contract? Last year it was House and Posey.  Posey won his gamble.

Well, we lost Posey. :-[

Hopefully we can get House back.
