My visit today with the skin doctor got me thinking about this.

I went for my annual skin check.  (I got the good Irish pale skin that burn like chicken with a ton of moles)

Anyways, there were two moles he want to biopsy.  Not the first time this has happened (two abnormal in the past).  So, I am an old pro at this.

One big difference, my 2 year old daughter is in the room.  So, the doctor, without telling me, decides that having me sit up for this will help keep my daughter cool.

So, I get the two areas swabbed.  I get the numbing shot (one in the back, one in the stomach, which was really uncomfortable).  He whips out the razor blade, and shaves the moles off into a little tube.

So all done.  Everything good.   Why is it getting so hot in here?  Why is the left side of my head starting to throb?  'Yeah doc, I'm fine.'  Why am I getting dizzy?  'Uh doc, i seem to be getting a little bit of a headache.'

That was it.  He lays me down, and puts a cold paper towel on my head.  Took about 5 minutes for me to recover.  Another 10 minutes for them to let me go.  During which time I was told this is not unexpected and he would have normally laid me down to do the procedure to avoid this.

So, the question is, was this weak or what?

Anyone else have a good woozy moment? (and please stay away from illegal activities and drinking adventures)

Ummm, never from anything personally, but there was one point after the birth  of my first daughter that I started to get a little woozy.  It was mostly just emotional fatigue.  My wife had just gone through a really tough time having the baby and I figured the worst was over.  I won't get into the gory details, but there was a great of blood trying to get the placenta out and the doctor was getting pretty rough.  I was just feeling really bad for my wife and starting to get concerned the amount of blood.

The only other times I've come close to passing out are from sneezing fits! (I kid you not, I have some pretty intense allergy sneezing attacks where I fire off 6 or 7 sneezes in a matter of seconds)

Yup

Been there for the birth thing.  It just wouldn't let go.

oh the stories I can tell

I have a history of migraines, stress induced (physical/mental) so I've definitely had more than 1 moment where I became light headed and passed out from it, not fun

A few fun ones:

I was at my parents' house, they have one of those fridges with the freezer door on top - I got some ice out, then bent down to get some coke, the top door swung partially closed, and then POW - I'm unconscious on the floor - yeah I got knocked out by a fridge door

even better:

I was at my parents' house (recurring theme?) and I was trying to teach myself how to dive into the swimming pool (I'm maybe 16 or 17 at this point, never learned how to do it) So first I learned how to do a front flip off the diving board, no problem. so I figure if I can manage to stop halfway I'll be golden - first attempt, success - except I didn't put my arms out, go straight to the bottom, hit my head, come to the top and thankfully pull myself out, before passing out on the concrete

so yeah woozy for me usually becomes unconscious pretty quick

Yeah, when our pediatrician laid the news on me and my wife that my 1 1/2 year old son had cancer.

My legs got wobbly and suddenly it became very difficult to breath. I was standing and she was sitting so I to one knee held her hand and we hugged.

She noticed my breathing and hands shaking but never said a word just looked into my eyes as I looked into hers.

She never knew about the wobbly legs or the need not to stand.

I always thought it rather weak that for that one 5 second span in our lives, she was stronger than I was.

I've been robbed at gunpoint. I had a dude pull a gun out during a street fight when I was a kid. No nervous or fear reaction. But hearing that made me lightheaded, wobbly to the point of almost falling down and I almost had a hyperventilation attack but got it contained before it got out of hand.

The pediatrician told us that we acted bravely and handled the news better than most. I found that hard to believe but after joining support cancer groups I found out the doctor may have been telling me the truth.

BTW, my son is now 21 and fine. Just thought I should mention that.

Passed out giving blood this winter, very embarassing.  Was having blood work done at MGH and I didn't realize that they would be taking 8 vials and I hadn't eaten.

Very long story short which includes the woman having to refer to a book while the needle was in me, I passed out.  The thing is, it was incredibly relaxing, until I woke up and then it was mayhem.

Had my brother come pick me up and take me home.

The funny follow up was that I had more blood work done two weeks ago (1 vial) and when I went in the people recognized me and panicked.

I love my kids, call me a sap - it's true.

Good to hear about the final outcome for your son.

I have another good one.

After one of my to many root canals (one bad dentist putting in bad fillings can be really bad), I got the 'good stuff' for the pain.

I took it that day without a single issue.  Felt fine and clear headed

next day, back at school where I am teaching, I take my prescription.  Found out why they call it the 'good stuff'

I am proud to say none of my student had a clue how out of it I was.

Somewhat similar story...was donating blood for the first time several years back.  This was a major blood drive that took place in the Dean Dome at Chapel Hill, and was about 1/2 hour wait to donate.  Long story short, my friend and I got to talking and decided to "race" to see who could fill up the bag first.

Well, I won and I lost, because after flexing my way to a full bag, I got up, everything suddenly went all twirly, and I [dang] near bounced my head off the hospital bed thingy they had us laying on.  Not my brightest moment.

Thanks, it was a long time ago but I remember it like it was yesterday.

Sorry, but all my other light headed incidences occured due to recreational reasons.
