Worst trade possibility ever...Yeah, lets trade back the big 3 for most of the players we got rid of b/c they weren't producing for us, and YES, Paul Pierce would demand a trade THAT day.
dude... you can't possibly compare it the previous situation.  It's apples and wallets.  For one thing, Theo Ratliff has nothing at all to do with the trade suggestion.  For another, there's the little matter of Yi Jianlian.  And most importantly... in the trade rumor we'd be nabbing Trent Plaistead.  The guy is a legit 6'10... a crossbreed of Scott Foster and Jason Smith.  Not to mention that it just makes total logical sense for Ainge to trade for a player who went to Brigham Young University.   I'm telling you... apples and wallets.   This is a win/win for all parties involved.  Pull the trigger, Danny!!

Not a bad trade idea at all. But I'd ask Minny for a draft pick. Surely  not a deal-breaker, but they throw in their 2009 draft pick (I wouldn't ask for our own, with this deal we'd be contenders for the next decade and the value of our picks is low) and I'm an enthusiastic supporter.

True, Minnesota should be sending us one, if not two, #1s to even things out.  They're the one getting the superstar, after all.

Really at this point my only problem with getting draft picks from Minnesota is that they are going to be bottom of round 1 picks, not the lottery quality they would have been earlier.  Although that being said, Danny does his best work drafting at the bottom or round one, so what the heck throw them in.
I love my kids, call me a sap - it's true.

I ask you, do you want a chance at one more measly championship, or the opportunity for a dynasty?

I think the team needs one more piece.

Either sign Ratliff for the MLE or trade for Raef.

Darn it, I knew I forgot something.  To supplement the above trade:

Boston trades: bag of golf balls
Boston receives: Gerald Green

 ;)

Tut, tut, Roy.

You've left a key issue unaddressed.

New golf balls? Or rewashed?

I had to give you a TP for this post.  I'm not quite sure why I felt like I had to, but I did.  I will say though, that I think that with this trade we will be pretty set for the future.  We still have PP, who this year showed he can do whatever is needed of him to win a championship, and we'll be getting a lot of young players back that have gotten some quality PT this past year and might be ready to make a run.  We might not win a championship this year, but next year I bet we would be contenders.

I don't think you were paying attention... If we made this trade we would already have to cut 1 person to make the roster limits (It was stated in the original post).  Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of signing Ratliff, but the only option would be trading for Raef.  Now I ask you, who would you possibly want to give up on that roster to get Raef?

No.  Once you get Ratliff, he gets injured and you can get a roster exception to have a 16th man.

Yeah, I mean I assumed that was implied in your post.

I'm sorry, I had a mental lapse for a minute.  I totally forgot about the roster exception.

See and now thats what kills me about this trade. If you do it, how can you possibly make any more moves?? Its like "Finally, we have all the pieces". The problem is that every player is such an obvious franchise corner stone that there is no room for flexibility. Lets say, for instance, that the league limits our all stars to 6...will the other 9 guys be mad and want to go elsewhere because they won't be getting the credit they so obviously deserve?

Send two rookies (2nd rounders), a 2nd rounder and cash to get Portland to buy Raef out.  Then sign him to the vet min.
