You trade Manny and make sure the team inks him to a long contract because if you don't he will be playing in pinstripes next year.
As far as why he would sign a long term contract now, it is for the same reason that the trading market for Texiera is lower than it should be. Most of the competing teams are set at the 1st base position so if he cares about winning at all he'd be well advised to sign a long termer.

Where do you expect him to play, They have an outfield of matsui and abreu on the corners.  Both of which i wouldent think the yankees are looking to replace, especially now that they have Nady.  They now have 3 DH's with giambi, damon, and posada.  I really dont think there is any chance he plays for the yankees.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

There going to need to replace damon soon, posada is goign to catch next year, and giambi is in the end of his career.

you sign TEx, move damon (who may be coming off next year anyway, not sure) and DH giambi. Posada catchs next year, like him and they say he is going to, and you eventaully move Gaimbi when posada needs to DH. not really that difficult to fit in one of the only young power hitters thats going to be avalable in the next 3 years IMO. all those guys you mentioned won't be playing 3-4 years from now, and the yankees know it.

Well Giambi comes off the books, so does Abreu, so does Nady, so does Melky.  Damon and Matsui have one more year after this season.
So the Answer to your question is that they could play him in left, right, dh, 1st or center (the last two are just where they have vacancies not where he would actually play)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Dumb move, youkilis is a redsox for life. He will also demand less money than teixera. Youkilis at first is top 3 1b right now no doubt

Youkilis no doubt deserves a yearly rate of 9-11 million but of course the sox will try to frugal their way with him.

we need to sign youk to a 5 or 6 year deal at 10 million per season, you can't deny he can hit, he is clutch, he has championship experience and only 1 error in i don't know how many games. He gets it done

Well said Triboy!  I don't know what's wrong with other people on this site but to put a price tag on Youk's head and simply just trade him for an overpaid player is ridicolous. What about all the clutch hits and plays Youk has made for the Red Sox?  We forget about that huh?

And this is the same site where fans originally didn't want to trade Jefferson and Gomes for KG..but trading Youk for Texeira is okay.

I don't get it.....

more to do with manny than youk TBH. if you do this deal, your signiling the end of mannys time here. Since ATL wants a 1b back, and you need to put tex at first, youk is invovled.

No one who suggests this deal "forgets" about youk, but if we move manny, then our 3-4 is ortiz....drew  :-X. Tex is attractive because he's a powerhitter, something we don't have in the farm system right now, nor somethign that is avalable in FA's this offseason (holliday is a contact hitter everywhere but coors)

this deal has nothing to do with no liking youk, it has to do with the fact that if we lose manny, we have exactly one guy thats good for 30+ HR's a year, ortiz.

need more pop than that.

that being said, its a bad deal, and i would rather string manny out another year than morgage a very good firstbaseman we know for a slightly better 1st baseman we don't.

yep, i've pretty much accepted there going to get TEX, the move would be to bid agaisnt them to make them massivly overpay, then string manny out one more year until we can target a FA corner outfielder we like while there still reeling from another a-rod esq contract hehe.

I thought Lars Anderson is a power hitter?  Bonds is an 'available' FA power hitter

tell me your joking, your considering bonds at 43 and off roids as a power hitter this summer?

and anderson is considered a good hitting prospect, but ive never heard the term power hitter thrown his direction, in 200 minor league games he's hit 23 HR's.

http://www.soxprospects.com/players/anderson-lars.htm

not really a manny replacment power wise.
