Celtic Nation can breathe a sigh of relief. Paul Pierce [stats]’s right knee is fine.

An MRI showed that there is no significant problem that will hinder the captain and NBA Finals MVP into next season.

“It’s what we thought all along,” Danny Ainge said. “He had a sprained MCL and a bone bruise, and he’ll be fine.”

Pierce reported this week that he had some lingering soreness, prompting him to get the MRI while he was in town to host his youth basketball camp.

He did say the knee was improving and he now plans to participate in full hoop workouts shortly after the ESPY Awards next week.

Pierce famously suffered the injury in Game 1 of the Finals against the Lakers. He was carried off the floor only to return a few minutes later and bury the Lakers with two big 3-pointers.

googlesearch is so weird - Paul Pierce comes up before former president Franklin Pierce (so do Mary Pierce and Pierce Brosnan) but the real surprise is some random sophomore from Tennessee Tech comes up?  Weird stuff

As for our captain, I'm glad the knee is good, I hope hope hope he doesn't hurt it during the season and he takes evey precaution necessary

In this partuclar instance
I thought it was perfect.
I have always typed "paul pierce"
in those Google searches. This was
the first time I just wrote "pierce".
Seriously! It's just perfect  :)

PS. Did I tell you I picked "34"
to be in my phone number a few
years ago? Again, seriously.
It still is.

keep in mind that there are a lot more sports webpages than there are presidential references... and i do believe that google's search engine has some kind of popularity factor built in.
