According to this: http://www.rotowire.com/roto_to_gnews.htm?ID=100235&sport=nba

Sam I am apparently wants back and a coaching job after next year.  I guess that means we're not signing any more PGs?

That rotoworld entry links to yesterday's Globe article, which only says that Cassell "expects" to re-sign with Boston.  What Sam I Am "expects" and what actually happens might be two different things.  I'm sure he "expects" all his off-balance, ill-timed jump shots to go in too....

Nothing but smoke. He has said several times he wants to stay, but this doesn't mean we'll sign him.

Bad idea to waste any money on a guy who kills our team offense and is not productive defensively.... my idea is sign him as a coach this year if anything... just dont think we can trust him as our back up pg if we want to repeat

Minimum contract PG.  Does the summer in our system actually help him?  Realize that this guy came in very late after the rotations were set and struggled.  That really isn't a surprise for anyone who has watched basketball.  This guy was averaging 12.8 PPG and 4.7 APG before coming here.

I don't want him for above the minimum, but I have a hard time believing that some of the polished turds that are being mention are all that better.

He'll be fine with a full camp.  His shot was streaky at best last year and too late in the year to really get him well integrated.  With a full camp, and a coaching staff able to work in those pick and rolls and post isos that he can make so much magic with ... he'll be good.  His main virtues are ones that age well.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
There was a time when Sam was a point guard. That time is gone he's nothing more than a chucker now. I don't want him back and I don't think Danny wants him back.

Sam apparently has Rickey Henderson disease. Had a great career but just doesn't know when to quit.

Cassell will be back and it's not a bad thing. After the Celtics give Posey the full MLE they will have no money left for free agents and will be well over the luxury tax. The only guys they will sign after that is minimum level guys. Cassell wants to be here, the players love him and he comes cheap. I'm sure he would be more of a team player when he actually knows the plays. A full training camp will help him. My guess is it's Rondo, Cassell & Pruitt and no Eddie House or Tony Allen.

This is just my opinion, I have no inside knowledge.  :)

If this is true, kill me now! Goodbye Eddie House! No way he resigns only to be stuck on the bench behind Sam I Was...

Typical reaction from the typical CelticsBlog forum dwellers.

Ainge almost set a bad precedent by acquiring Allen and Garnett...now every single signing is under a nanoscopic lense to be picked apart by the basketball know-it-alls of the interwebs.

Get real!
God bless and good night!
