I think this signing proves that Maggette ultimately cared more about the bigger minutes and money then a bigger chance of winning a championship.

I don't really get this signing for the Warriors.  Do they have a point guard?  Is Monta Ellis now playing the point?

Also,

Maggette getting above $6 million a year.  Good for him but bad for Golden State.

We have to see though what Golden State's next move is. I actually like the move for them at the moment.

Cha-ching, cha-ching

hey, that's the sound of the money being thrown at James Posey.  What's to say that GS or the Clippers don't also now enter into the Posey sweepstakes?

That dude is going to be one wealthy 6th man in a few days and my guess is, it wont be Boston.   :-\

Speaking relative to their salary cap situation.  As Roy pointed out earlier, they have some upcoming free agents to worry about.

From the Boston Globe....

Clippers free agent forward Corey Maggette has agreed to a five-year deal paying about $50 to sign with Golden State, according to The Los Angeles Times tonight. The Celtics were interested in Maggette, who averaged a Clipper-best 22 points per game last season. Free agents can sign tomorrow. With Maggette off the market, more pressure is on the champion Celtics to re-sign forward James Posey.-30-

I guess playing for a contender was not that important for him after all.

He was only talking about going to a contender if he couldn't get paid.  Just like everyone else, if someone was willing to give him more money, then of course he goes for it.  Can't fault him for that.

Without doing much studying, they had offered Brand $20 million... that tells me they still have roughly $10 million to offer free-agents (without worrying about their own). We'll see. I may be wrong, but I think they still have room to get some people. Pietrus already agreed to sign with the Magics, so that's more cap room to work with.

Pietrus to Orlando ? If so could be between us and the Hornets for Posey. I like our chances; but they may have spiked the gumbo.

Wow GS gave him 10 mil a yr. How much did they offer Davis again? If your a Western team (other than the Spurs) you love these moves. The Clips aren't a threat now. The Warriors lost their identity and downgraded. And the Spurs would have been scary with Maggette. So we get to beat the Lakers again for #18. Works for me :)

Wait, who got $10 million?  Maggette?  Is that a published report?  Wow.

Makes zero sense for either Party, but hey more power to them all.  The Spurs I can see, but Golden state?  They still got enough dough to run at Josh Smith?  What is THEIR next move.  Maggette wanted the money, surprise surprise.  P.S.  The Magic WAY overpaid for Pietrus and Miami gave a lot of dough to James Jones on the market I guess that leaves Posey, Barnes and....?  for us.

If Smith signs a big contract with LA and then the Hawks match, my guess is they let Childress walk or S&T. Wonder if Danny might take a shot at Childress thinking Atlanta may allow him to go if they decide to match big bucks on Smith?

Can is long, long, can play defense, rebound, and has without a doubt the ugliest free throw shot in the league, but he's young and I don't think he's reached anything close to his apex yet. Especially if he gets into a good coaching system with good role models.

Sound familiar?

Now that Philly (presumably) has Brand, I guess they're gonna let Smith go...I assume the Clips take a HUGE run at Josh Smith, and I think Philly may not be done and with the cap room they still have they go after Childress too.  This should be interesting.  If we lose out on Posey I wouldn't mind Childress though I don't think this team could offer enough that ATL couldn't match.

Would have loved to see him in Green. 10 million is too much money though. Also agree Smith would be a better fit in GS. Hope we can corral Posey.
