Oh no! http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/2008/07/hornets_eye_pos.html

I trust in Danny! I think the team has their eye on 2010 as had been alluded to and I would not be surprised to see Ron Artest in our future.

The Hornets want to play Posey at shooting guard?  Good luck with that.  He struggles at times against quicker small forwards.  I'm not sure he can keep up with opposing guards.

I had the same thought. Posey and Peja sounds like a bad idea to me on the defensive end.

I didn't get to read the entire thing, but did the team say that, or was it speculation by the (likely ill-informed) writer?

I think Posey would make a lot of sense on that team as a 6th man...but he is certainly not their answer at the 2.

I am still waiting for Portland to jump into the bidding on Posey.

I think their idea is to use Posey as the wing defender, starting or not. It makes lots of sense for them. In abstract, Posey and Peja together looks worse on the offense, but they play the DDM with Paul, so probably it won't be a problem.

Its probably near blasphemous - but I felt Posey REALLY struggled against the quicker wings. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce pretty much had Kobe the entire finals, and with good reason - Posey would have been worked. The thing abuot Posey on Hornets, is he'd be a great kickout and shoot guy, and could play three positions off the bench. So I think he'd make a fine 6th man for that team. He's also solid Peja insurance, whose health I view as suspect.

They could also use a BBD type down low.

Heck, the Hornets would be better off signing Tony Allen! They need a true 2, they can play defense. If I were them I'd target:

Ross, Evans, Pietrus, maybe Ricky Davis. They would all be cheaper than Posey too. I'm seriously doubting Posey ends up in NO.

Maybe he would have been worked; but the fact is that when he guarded Kobe, he wasn't. And of course he was assigned to Odom most of the time. When exactly has he struggled against quicker wings?

I found the article to be speculative at best.

Are you guys insane? Those ain't updates! It's going to be the same until things get going tomorrow. And this is also nothing but speculation. Who said The Spurs are the frontrunners for Maggette? What is it based on? Oh, I see, it's the local newspaper writing about their own team. But it has been made public that Doc called Maggette, and Maggette himself had some kind words for us and said he is seriously considering our offer.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
all of a sudden everyone's acting like we could never win this thing without james posey...sorry, but he's not that great.

yes, he is a tremendous team guy, superb defender, and a clutch shooter - but he's one guy.

i'm going to be patient on this and wait until we actually see some things really happen.  if not posey, danny will find someone.

but again, i've held my position that i believe this team could look drastically different next season, based upon which dominoes drop first.

That's right, and Danny has said about a week ago that he has several backup plans if Posey or Maggette don't sign here.

Don't the Hornets already have a much better version of James Posey named Gerald Wallace and doesn't he already play almost 40 MPG?

Charlotte Bobcats.

I think it's the Charlotte connection (former home to the Hornets) that threw you off.
