Does anyone who was a member of this bolg just a year ago remember the good old days? O'kay so maybe they weren't so good. But what a difference a year makes.
A year ago, after the season ended and the Celtics once again got the shaft in the draft lottery, we all put on our best Red Auerbach caps and decided we all absolutely, positively knew the way for the Celtics to take the next long step towards mediocrity and, dare I say, the playoffs. And for most of us that means we proposed trades.
Trades.
Trades.
Trades.
It got so bad after a while that posters where actually starting threads begging other posters to do some research and use some common sense before clogging up the blog with another stupid, air headed, inconceivable trade.
Not anymore.
Nope. This offseason can now officially be coined the "Christmas in July" offseason because instead of being Trader Joes we are now all sitting on Santa Danny's lap whispering into Papa Ainge's ear for our shiny new player we want wrapped in green in added to our little traveling troupe of basketball players.
There's Budweiser Celtic bouncing up and down on Santa Danny's knee asking for a new Tony Allen. The one he got last year was good but he thinks this year's addition will be even better.
Little nickagneta keeps holding his breath and stubbornly insisting for Santa Danny to bring him a Roger Mason and is letting anyone know who will listen to him know just that.
Roy Hobbs is giddy over the idea of Santa Danny bringing him a Corey Maggette but he'll be just as happy if Papa Ainge gets him another James Posey.
Actually standing in line just dying to ask Santa Danny for another James Posey and Eddie House with the Little House accessory ball boy attached is Bahku, wdleehi, Redz, Who, Chief, celticmaestro, IndeedProceed, and a ton of other little Celticsbloggers. Those two presents seem to be all the rave during this "Christmas in July".
So step right up and sit on Santa Danny's lap, unless of course you weigh about 260 lbs like I do, and let Papa Ainge know what you want this "Christmas in July". Who knows, since last year proved to us that miracles do happen, maybe we will ultimately get what we really want. Another big green and white banner that says "2008-2009 NBA World Champions... Boston Celtics".
Ah...... I love "Christmas in July". It sure beats a trip down to the flea market and Trader Joe's.
