Does anyone who was a member of this bolg just a year ago remember the good old days? O'kay so maybe they weren't so good. But what a difference a year makes.

A year ago, after the season ended and the Celtics once again got the shaft in the draft lottery, we all put on our best Red Auerbach caps and decided we all absolutely, positively knew the way for the Celtics to take the next long step towards mediocrity and, dare I say, the playoffs. And for most of us that means we proposed trades.

Trades.

Trades.

Trades.

It got so bad after a while that posters where actually starting threads begging other posters to do some research and use some common sense before clogging up the blog with another stupid, air headed, inconceivable trade.

Not anymore.

Nope. This offseason can now officially be coined the "Christmas in July" offseason because instead of being Trader Joes we are now all sitting on Santa Danny's lap whispering into Papa Ainge's ear for our shiny new player we want wrapped in green in added to our little traveling troupe of basketball players.

There's Budweiser Celtic bouncing up and down on Santa Danny's knee asking for a new Tony Allen. The one he got last year was good but he thinks this year's addition will be even better.

Little nickagneta keeps holding his breath and stubbornly insisting for Santa Danny to bring him a Roger Mason and is letting anyone know who will listen to him know just that.

Roy Hobbs is giddy over the idea of Santa Danny bringing him a Corey Maggette but he'll be just as happy if Papa Ainge gets him another James Posey.

Actually standing in line just dying to ask Santa Danny for another James Posey and Eddie House with the Little House accessory ball boy attached is Bahku, wdleehi, Redz, Who, Chief, celticmaestro, IndeedProceed, and a ton of other little Celticsbloggers. Those two presents seem to be all the rave during this "Christmas in July".

So step right up and sit on Santa Danny's lap, unless of course you weigh about 260 lbs like I do, and let Papa Ainge know what you want this "Christmas in July". Who knows, since last year proved to us that miracles do happen, maybe we will ultimately get what we really want. Another big green and white banner that says "2008-2009 NBA World Champions... Boston Celtics".

Ah...... I love "Christmas in July". It sure beats a trip down to the flea market and Trader Joe's.

Thanks for making me smile.  ;D

I'll ask Ainge for a back up center (Elson, Zo, Kurt Thomas, Mutumbo, Andersen...)
back up point guard (Jason Williams, Lue, House, Duhon...)
And of course to bring back Big Game James!

T to the P (hmm, that sounds strange)

Great post, made my day.

I want Papa Ainge to give my presents to the poor, because I`m happy with the status quo  :)
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

That's because I thought it was obvious what you wanted....a new light sabre and control of the universe.

Are you kidding? Dark Lords don't ask fro new light sabers for Christmas, they build their own light sabers.

TP from me as well.

We should all be grateful we're not plugging gaps in the starting lineup!

Here's a vote for bringing back BGJ, and bolstering that second unit. Birdman wouldn't be bad, and would also be constant entertainment

TP for nickagneta..that was a great, original post and definitely put a smile on my face...Christmas in July for the Celtics...reminds me of the 80's! I hope we have many more Christmas in July months in the next few years.

If this year is Christmas in July, what would have last year been called before the big trades? Nightmare before Christmas in July?

  • Yup
Redz is still waiting for Hanukah Harry to bring him some gelt.  :(

You don't have any pull with him do you Nick?

The whole Santa thing is new to me, but being in a mixed marriage with kids now, I am already feeling the pull of Santa from my five year old wanting a computer - A COMPUTER - from the big guy next Christmas.  "Uhhh, sweetheart, I don't think Santa can fit it down the chimney", "Well how about a laptop?"...I'm in deep poop!

My wish for Santa Danny is for a season that brings us half the entertainment of this years. If we can get 50% of the entertainment we'll be plenty entertained!

tp from me nick, that was a genuinely fun post.

what's lovely as well, like santy claus, we know that whatever papa ainge brings us, it will be nice and likely to be just what we want and need. he's got our list and he'll choose what's best.
