Definitely put me down as someone who thinks this is extremely unlikely. The only way I see this happening is if the money really dries up on him. Could I see him taking 5 million instead of 6 or 7 million? Sure. But if the Clips or someone else offers him 10+, there's no way he comes here.
Furthermore, I'm nervous about all of this "sacrificing" going on if he does come here. We're supposed to believe that he's going to not only be OK with sacrificing money, but also sacrificing stats? I mean Doc's been commended for getting the Big Three to sacrifice stats in the name of winning. Now, we want Maggette to sacrifice money and stats at an even younger age? I'm just not sure how this pans out.
Furthermore, I'm not totally sold on his shooting. He shot well from behind the arc last year, but it was really the first time in his career. People forget how important that spacing and shooting was for the C's offense last year. If he can't buy a shot, things aren't going to work so well with him.
All that said, if he came here for the minimum, I'd deal with those problems. I'm just not sure it's as fabulous of a fit as some people think it is. It really seems like the C's would be succumbing to the allure of stats rather than what got them here: defense, shooting, and team play.
