I'm gonna be at this shin-dig, seeing as it's right in my backyard:

Hopefully Mondo Cane (Mike Patton)
with Malmoe Symphony Orchestra on
17th of August in Malmoe, Sweden.

I hope some other stuff pops up
before that. I go to concerts too seldom.
Roskilde Festival is this weekend but
I'm too busy. 'Anyone ever go there?

I have a couple of friends from Copenhagen who go to Roskilde every year and speak of it as if its the greatest concert in the world.  The lineups have been rather amazing.  Ive been meaning to make my way out to it at some point in my life.

Ive heard spectacular things about the Mondo Cane live show as well.  Mike Patton is a genius.

You really should go sometime.
It's quite an experience.

When I hear the words "Mike Patton"
and "genius" in the same sentence, it's
the same as when I hear "Los Angeles"
and "spanking" in the same sentence:
TP!

I went to the first day of the Heiniken Jammin Festival in Venice back in June.  Line up that day was headlined by Linkin Park and the Sex Pistols.

I've dropped the ball big-time as far as shows this summer, but I plan on making up for my catching some great N.O. bands up my way in NYC in September.  Sullivan Hall has some sick NOLA action on the docket:  Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Papa Grows Funk and one of my personal favs, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes (go download "Live at the Spleaf" immediately, trust me).

Other than that, a friend had tix for a music fest at Liberty Park a couple weeks back and I caught the tail end of the Roots - who were awesome and a full set of Radiohead - who were NOT awesome, imho.  I had never seen them live, so I went in with an open mind, and while I certainly can appreciate their musician-ship and overall talent, it just ain't my cuppa tea.

Oh, and Redz, calling Govt Mule B-listers stung just a little, as they, and Warren Haynes, are top notch in my book ;D.

I tried to give the tickets away to about a half dozen customers who I thought roughly fit the bill of people who might be interested in seeing Gov't Mule.  Finally got a taker on the 6th try.

Sorry.  Warren Haynes is a great guitarist.  Gov't Mule is a B-List ticket!
Yup

Is anyone going to anything good this summer?

I may go see G. Love and special sauce at the end of August

and one of my favorite songwriters John Prine is coming in September

Will check out some local shows, love going to cambridge or allston to see up and coming people, but yeah its kind of a quiet concert scene

this summer I've seen (in order of awesomeness):
1. Radiohead
2. REM/Modest Mouse/ The National
3. Spoon
4. RX Bandits/ Portugal the Man/ Maps and Atlases
5. M83

M83 was great but still the least awesome of all those bands.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Unfortunately, I didn't go to Malmoe.
I did see a clip on YouTube where
Patton goes "F*** ABBA!" and gets the
crowd to join him in the chant  ;D

Would have loved to have seen Radiohead.  The Police was my big concert for the Summer.  Excellent show.  Lots of fun.

I haven't been to much this summer, but in the next two months I will be seeing a bunch of good shows (this is what will be holding me over until the season starts)...

Here is who I will be seeing...

Alkaline Trio (twice)
Weezer
Straylight Run
Anberlin
Kevin Devine
Matt Pryor
The Kooks
Flogging Molly
Rise Against
The Wombats

And a few other openers that I don't really know.  Its going to be a good couple of months.

Here's something for all you Radioheads:

If you're into Radiohead,
you've probably already seen it.
But if you missed it, check it out.
It's really good stuff.

So you're going to disorientation 2008 the fnx concert? I was thinking about it but the Mars Volta are playing the next night and I want to see them.
