according to Gant on realGM on CSN, Ainge said that Brown won't be coming back. Great career and I'm happy to see you earn your ring. You played a big role, and I doubt we win banner 17 without you.

and here's the Posey link:

I definitely think and from what I have seen, most see re-signing Posey as priority #1. I would also love Eddie back, as signing both would be our best scenario for a repeat IMO. I would also be willing to tell PJ to just stay in a little better shape this year and we would have no problem bringing him in at the end of February for vet minimum for a shot at another ring, but ultimately the decision is his.

I am wondering if someone like Magliore or on a lesser note Kwame, would be willing to take vet minimum for a shot at a ring.

Got anybody else that is
a) Available
b)Capable of being a back up center
c)would possibly take minimum to win a ring

Magloire isn't a good enough player to be an option.

Kwame might be but his lack of intelligence and inability to string together a few simple plays is very tough to put up with. Very good defensive player, very athletic and good rebounder though. Has a few offensive moves too.

Brian Skinner is a name popping into my head. Competent player who could fill in well enough. Not as good as PJ.

I am on the Skinner bandwagon right now.
Others might be F. Elson or K. Thomas.....

Everytime I hear Kwame's name being mentioned I get nauseous.

Yep they're two very good names. Kurt's game has fallen back a lot and I'm not sure he's a great fit next to two other undersized bigs in BBD and Powe. Still he's a talented player who impacts games and probably more so than Elson. But I inch towards the athleticism, shot blocking and also another good midrange game with Elson. I think Elson is my favourite for the spot.

Robert Swift. :)
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I've always liked Brian Skinner and he should be good for the Celtics.

With that said, if I'm reading Ainge right, is that he's not willing to go full MLE on Posey. Might be mistaken, but that's the vibe I'm getting at the moment.

I think if we are trying to repeat as champions, then we should try to repeat our formula for success last year, meaning we should try to get a player as similar to PJ as possible.  I really like Kurt Thomas.  Better man-on-man defender than PJ, maybe a little better mid-range jumpshot, good rebounder.  Only question is price.  If we can't get him, I say we wait til midseason to pick somebody up like last season instead of taking somebody we're not sure of.

As long as they get someone decent with some size I'll be OK with it.  While I like Davis and Powe, they are undersized power forwards.  Now, Garnett's size makes that less of an issue (he's taller than many centers in the league), but I'd feel much better having a legit 7-footer to backup Perk.

Anyone know the status on Pollard?

Thanks PJ!! He certainly did help us get the banner.
How about Alonzo...what would he do for a shot at the title.  What a BEAST of a backup he'd make.  Always wanted him in green.
