George Carlin passed away today at the age of 71.

I really can't say that I've been appreciative of any comedian considerably older than myself other than him. I realize that that might be a "generational thing", and my own problem, but that's the truth.

Thanks for the laughs, George.

I'm shocked. I was just watching some videos of him on youtube the other day. He was a legend and he will be missed. RIP.

Just saw the story and was on my way to start this very same thread.

Easily my favorite comedian of all time, and now I'm just glad I was able to see him live last November.

Thanks for always making me smile, George.  RIP.

Wow, I'm very surprised. He's my all time favorite comedian... and to consider that just a couple of months ago he made a new special for HBO.

He'll be missed.

Favorite routines, anyone?

I think his airline announcements have to be at the all-time top for me.

Then again, his 20-plus minute rant on cars and driving is pretty killer, too.

Just an all-around phenomenal comedian.  No doubt his work will live on.

Wow, that´s sad.

4 weeks ago, I had no idea who George Carlin was. Then I stumbled across his HBO special on Youtube, and spent the next hours watching some of them. Very smart comedy, very funny. Last week, I saw a movie, and one of George Carlin´s shows was shown there. How strange that he flew under my radar for over 25 years, and then all of a sudden I saw him in two different situations in the span of 3 weeks. And now this...

My favourite routine was probably the show about Religion, and how he worships the sun.

Wherever you are, I pray that Joe Pesci takes care of you.

RIP, Mr Carlin.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Sad to hear this ... so many laughs will never be realized. I remember when I was in high school ... George was one of the first comedians that my "generation" could relate to and call our own. My brother, sister and I would listen to his records when our parents were out ... in secret, because he was "radical" in those days, (I know, I know!). I'll never forget the "Seven Words You Can't Say On Television", "Crazy" you-know-what, and the "Phrases That Have Never Been Said Before" ... like: "Please saw my legs off" and "Hand me that piano!" ... we'll miss you Jorge' ... truly! There will be more laughs in heaven now, but fewer here ... and we're a selfish lot, after all. Adios.

George Carlin was a bleepin, bleep, bleep bleep comedian with a nack for saying *)&^^%, #^%&*, *&^%%$ at a time when the nation needed a wake up call.

Mr. Carlin's subtle way of expressing himself shaped generations of comedians.

Many will remember him like this

or this

I'd prefer to remember him like this

George, thank you for making us laugh and making us think.  Now go *&^@$ away.

George, thank you for making us laugh and making us think.  Now go *&^@$ away.

Hands down the best Thomas narrator!  It's funny I was picking my brain this morning for that "other" thing George did and it wasn't Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.  He was way much better than Alec Baldwin at the Thomas stuff.

One of my personal favorite Carlin rants was about the Earth.

A unique dude, with a twisted mind.  I loved his word play.

For the past few years I would get random emails full of random thoughts that were always attributed to Carlin.  Although they weren't Carlin's thoughts (nor were the Barnicle's either) the fact is George Carlin inspired a manner in which to look at life.

Call it being cynical or as I'd prefer being a realist, George Carlin kept institutions on their heels.

One of the best, an original.

IF you have sirius or want to go to their site for a free 3 day pass they are running George Carlin routines all day on Ch 104.
